I did try switching off overdub but it didn't help. iirc overdub only affects recording of MIDI data.

how to NOT record automation?

hi there, I set up a few tracks runnning midi into Reason and tweaked automation of the audio track until all was good and my CPU maxed out. Then I wanted to bounce the tracks to free up CPU and continue working. The target tracks for the recording were the Reason return tracks containing the automa...

hey telekom,
thanks for your feedback, but I guess its a Reason audio thing indeed. When I open the Reason song on its own and play a few notes, the CPU usage bar stays at two lit LEDs after the notes finished, which is roughly 10% CPU. Weird.

Reason rewired uses CPU even when muted?

iBook G4 800MHz, Reason 3.0.4, Live 4.1.4 and 5.0.2 (Demo): I have a Live song that uses a fairly demanding Reason Supersaw patch. With all automation and fx going in Live the Song peaks at 65% CPU. When I mute the rewired audio/midi channels the peak drops to 35%. Closing the Reason song drops the ...

rawtheory,
thanks for assuring me that my computer is crap :) Let's not go the boring pc vs. mac/logic vs. live performance road, we've been there too often. I know what you mean, but I'm trying to hold out for the Intel Macs ... just wish me luck that I won't give in to an impulse buy too soon. ;)

this is really a shame as they're obviously trying to position Live as a DAW and not only as a live performance tool with limited track count. See what happens when you rewire Reason, load up up a Reason Drum Kits Refill and try to mix the dry kit in Live by routing the single sampler outputs to sin...

that would be so cool! If the abletons would expose certain functionality to a scripting language, we ourselves could write functionality like "export track as seperate audio files" or custom midi plugins, combinator-like audio-devices that reuse existing plugins and simply put them behind a custom ...

radiance, I feel with you, but you've been where I'm still trying to end up so I kinda feel stupid to give you hints on how to get back there. Maybe something of the stuff I found/decided for myself might work. I guess i'm mostly with nolus' post ... * reduce the setup: I'm limitting myself to Live ...

I wish I could just drag a finished clip from either session or arrange view into the browser once I finished tweaking it. I don't really want to bounce it manually since at this time of night I need three attempts before I realise there were other clips running while rendering or I selected the wro...

I was just reorganising a few ideas, and stumbled across this again ... since consolidate does a replace, it does indeed seem like a pointless limitation. I'll have to check out the 50msec "dead air" when resampling though, that sounds odd ... are you sure you set up your recording params, global la...
