my setup: ibook G4/800MHz/640MB four midi clips sent to reason, returning as four stereo tracks, rewired into live, 4-8 audio clips playing in live at the same time. My ibook then tops out at about 60% and starts dropping out audio. Maybe your Reason sounds are very demanding or your CPU is not set ...

I posted this question a while ago and got no response.
I guess if the Reason engine is loaded into Live as a DLL, and Live controls the whole audio processing, all the audio stuff will be forced to run on one processor.

the iMac seems to be roughly three times faster than my iBook G4 800. It scored 89% with the benchmark song. A 1GHz iBook G4 scored 66%. If you don't expect too much you should be fine with the 1.2GHz iBook and I'm so spoiled by its small form factor, portability and time it runs on battery, it's st...

it's funny you're asking, I'm getting my mid-plane replaced because I thought the CPU fan was too loud and the apple support lady thought so as well. I don't mind the swooshing sound of the other coolers but the cpu thing was annoying and I didn't trust it. Check the Apple discussion forums and try ...

I don't see a difference between 4.03 and 4.04 when running AdamJays benchmark song.

1.) 33% 2.) iMac G5 17" 3.) Mac OS X 10.3.5 4.) PowerPC G5 @ 1.8 GHz 5.) 512+512 MB DDR400 6.) Builtin audio 7.) stock 80gb SATA HD, 7200 RPM I tried the test both with the stock single 256 MB RAM and a matched pair of 2*512 MB RAM with no change in results: Ableton Live CPU meter varies between 30-...

oops, I was NOT suggesting the Pentium M scores were weird, only trying to point out there may well be architectural differences other than CPU-Clock that are responsible for the different scores. The P4 was built for running at high clock rates which would ease marketing it as a really fast process...

what about the 1.5 GHz Pentium M scoring 27 %, doesn't that make sense either? I suggest you do the same I did: take the Live Demo and the benchmark song to a shop and try it on the machine you intend to buy. :)

iMac G5!! just got back from the store, ran some tests with the Live 4.03 Demo, here's what I got: 1.) 37% Peak, jumping wildly between 33-36% most of the time 2.) iMac G5 3.) Mac OS X 10.3.5 (IIRC) 4.) 1.6GHz PowerPC G5, 533 MHz bus speed 5.) 256+512 MB RAM PC3200 (400MHz) 6.) built-in audio 7.) st...

Dual CPU Systems and Reason rewired into Live

Hi there, I was thinking about getting a dual G5 system for running Reason and Live, assuming that even if both apps weren't optimised for MP-Systems they'd at least be running on a dedicated CPU each. Today it struck me that if Live loads the Reason engine as a shared object/DLL, all audio processi...

hi pumablue, I'm currently using the Edirol ua-25 with an iBook G4/800. It's nice, sturdy, small, but I had some issues with 24bit driver mode in Live 4.0.1, so I switched the drivers from "advanced" to 16bit mode, which means I can't use the Edirols MIDI-Ports atm. When running AdamJays Live Perfor...

1) 89%, buffersize 2048 (occasional dropouts using UA-25, slightly better results with builtin audio) 2) Apple iBook G4 3) Mac OS X 10.3.5 4) G4@800MHz, 256kb L2 Cache 5) 640 MB RAM, 133MHz Bus Speed 6) Edirol UA-25 7) 4200 iirc This is slightly depressing since I was looking forward to using Live a...

Live 4.01 and Edirol UA-25 24bit playback problem

hi, I got myself an Edirol UA-25 interface recently, and Ableton Live 4.01 (Demo) won't playback more than a few seconds of audio correctly when using the drivers in 24bit mode. Soon, lots of stuttering and noise appear. In 16bit mode, all appears to be well. Apples iLife apps seem to work fine with...
