I trashed the preferences file, but that did not fix the problem. This issue also occurs on a seperate PC in my studio setup. Both are running WinXP Service Pack 2. What should I try next?

Agreed with Airborne. Having mp3 support is so so important, even if it is 2-3 decodes at a time.

Thanks to AM for finding that post from Ableton. Glad to see that they haven't rejected mp3 decoding altogether.

"Serious Error" When Automatically Creating New Track

In the Track View, when I drag a new sample onto an area that is not yet a track so that I can automatically create a new track, I keep getting the "Serious Error" message. It tells me I should save and restart Live, but if I keep working, it's not been a problem - no crashes and no BSODs....

Just wanted to chime in my support for MP3 support. Sound quality debates aside, Live shouldn't be the only player in this field that doesn't have this capability built in. If there are 10 other threads, can someone please point me to a response from Ableton Headquarters that tells me what their rat...

Mouse Features Wish List

I'm sure this has already been covered, but my search on the forums did not lead me to a definitive answer or response from Ableton. Here's what I want: 1. Use of scroll wheel in smart ways. In Sonar, you can scroll the wheel to go up or down. If you CTRL+Scroll, you go left to right. To be able to ...

One last response - it's true that you get pops and crackles after hitting around 70% when running with only cpu. However, you can reduce the crackling a lot by increasing your latency. Of course, you want to do this after you've recorded all your softsynth parts :)

You are correct, setting the affinity has to be done each time you launch the program. Alternatively, you can download a tool called RunOnProcessorExplicitly v. 1.00 at http://drn.digitalriver.com/category.php%5Baction%5Dbrowse&i=90&id=62&f=%7C%7C%7C%7C&s=product.date_released%7CDESC...

Set Processor Affinity for Hyperthreading P4

First, some background. Live 4 is NOT hyperthreading enabled. See the second posting from Ableton at http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11737 . Live 4 will likely crackle and pop if you do not either turn off hyperthreading in the bios or if you do not set the processor affinity to one CPU...

Read the second post at http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11737 Ableton talks about how using only one of your hyperthreaded CPUs is actually better for the application as it is currently written, as that tends to use the entire CPU rather than reserving half of it for other threads. Good...

Until the new release of Live that autodetects hyperthreading and assigns it's affinity to one processor, you can download a little utility called RunOnProcessorExplicitly 1.00. It's available at http://drn.digitalriver.com/category.php%5Baction%5Dbrowse&i=90&id=62&f=%7C%7C%7C%7C&s=p...
