Edirol FA101, this uses 15% cpu with the drivers , as one person posted before.

ESI,RME,Firepod all get good reviews.or maybe Echo LAYLA3G. just search the forums as there has been a lot of firewire problems going on..

you cant route auido into a midi track..

you can put audio effects after the synth/instrument in the device chain on a midi track... so its like this

are you recording in 256 or 512 in ur buffer settings?
22ms is the problem with ur recording being out of time..you should update the drivers if you havent, and bring down the buffer size..
