Re: kick rolls muffed by compression, what's your trick?

I often duplicate tracks in situations like that - it means you can have different settings without messing around with automation - CMD+D and set it up the new way and you're done - automating is more fiddly than that

Re: Rape Tunnel (?)

Is this a case of life imitating The Onion? I think so some of the comments go into specifics about the names mentioned not being real and the picture being of some other tunnel but he got himself plenty of attention "He caught me during his Blue Period, but I got the last laugh because I was in my...

Re: Does your label have the right to your masters?

what the hell are you talking about - violence? alex, if you check the fine print at the bottom of your recording contracts you'll see some language about the label being allowed to bludgeon you to death if they don't like your music. you probably missed that, lots of folks don't catch it until it'...

Re: Does your label have the right to your masters?

You don't need one. I know plenty of musicians who give away their tracks for free. The tracks are just treated more like incentive to go see the live show…... to be clear, I think there are 2 different conversations going on here - what you're saying is true for bands and artists with "songs" in t...

Re: Detroit Strings/Pads (DJ 3000, Rolando, ...)

you should try what contakt321 suggested what Khazul meant was they are pretty old string sounds in your examples, so you don't need anything that new sounding or realistic - better trying old kinds of presets, which means in the world of VSTs using things that are trying to emulate all those old sy...

Re: Does your label have the right to your masters?

don't sweat it man - like Luddy said, it's normal.

just make sure you're prolific and keep doing stuff so you're not too stressed about each track - better to get lots out there than to be so precious over everything that it stays in your bedroom….

Re: resetting the global time with a scene

not sure what you mean. You can change tempo by making a scene name the tempo you want followed by BPM (i.e. 128BPM)

you can do the same with Time sig.

If you do mean global quantise, then maybe you should check out this: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=153113

Re: Things you want to see explained/worked through in video?

ACE http://www.acesynth.com/Bilder/ACE-rendered.jpg an in-depth tutorial, a proper full coverage. There is a short one knocking about but I still barely understand anything much Without knowing much about that synth, from a quick look at the controls I'd say you just need something more general on ...

Re: Using the UC33 presets with ableton live

a long time ago when I got my UC33 it came with overlays for Pro53 and B4 (both now sadly discontinued) and then there were specific presets for those synths in the UC33 (the numbers are in the manual) - if you're trying to use those then you don't want Live's instant mapping at all - you will want ...

Re: Ableton Live external sync - it is reliable?

Also, like I said, most people seem to be having worse luck with slaving Live to another sequencer like the MPC or another laptop, but running Live as master sync works pretty good. [shrug] I thought it was the other way round? I haven't tried it since about Live 4, but I am pretty sure that Paddy ...

Re: noisy neighbour

get a sub woofer and turn it up. Then when he knocks on your door you can bargain with him. But then if he has his telly on that loud he's probably deaf as a post. My mum has her telly on painfully loud and has no idea how loud it is.

I'd just see it as an excuse to crank the volume yourself.

oddly enough I rarely bother with external EQ plugins. Maybe if I do I'll use REQ but mostly I'm happy with the Ableton one.
