If you look at about this mac and go to hardware devices and look up firewire, when my firewire bus burnt out it couldn't see it here, so worth a check.

On the negative side the firewire bus may have blown. It can sometimes happen when hot plugging FW400 devices, although more commonly nown to happen with m-audio FW410 and the likes! Anything like a dodgy fw cable can cause this. I had this happen on my MacPro, luckily it was in warrinty still, and ...

just be aware that if you install third party RAM into your MBP it invalidates the applecare that you may have! Well I think it does!

yeah we paid £60k for h2000
as I said I would avoid the venice like the plague, the verona is a better desk not much more in price, but not a great studio desk, go with what blackbelt says

I use Midas all the time. The heritage series has fantasic eq but you can cause real damage to a mix with it if you not carefull as it is so sensitive, Cadac desks also have fantastic eq and they were originally designed as a broadcast desk. we just gave away a B type as it was just sitting around d...

I worked with steve reich on his 70th birthday celebrations.
He is a bit mad as he stands next to the sound desk always pushing violins right up, as he has lost most of his hi freq hearing.
Basically you have to label a desk so that he pushes a blank channel, but he is a very nice man

I find that if I record the track over about 6 loops, then I size down to find the best loopable part, and warp it to fit if need be!
