Re: OT: Getting the shaft on a music release.
I know a guy who works at guitar center who had a #1 on the billboard dance chart. He gave a copy to a popular funky breaks dj here in florida who put it out on one of his mix cds. Everyone here has heard this song. Everyone in florida thinks the dj produced this song. Ive heard various different s...

Re: Low Latency Soundcards
Just go RME, best soundcards on the planet bar none. Best thing in my studio and i never even notice its there. Which one have you got? 400 or 800 The 800 has two firewire 800 ports on it. Could i daisy chain my 800 hard drive with it? Would/could this replace my yamaha 01v? 95% sure that this work...

Re: Automating Solo Button
Ok, I think I've got a way of doing this: Firstly solo button's are addressable by midi right? And recording this is the problem. In which case the way round this is to use an external midi bus, on mac you can use the IAC bus and on Windows you can use midi ox (I think). Bear with me as im at work ...

Re: Automating Solo Button
Hand - what Evon wants to do, and what i have yearned for nearly 5 years, is to be able to *record* solo events, just like you can with mutes. if you screw up the solo punch, you would then be able to edit the automation data, much as you do any other automatable data. i can get around the solo lim...

Re: KRK's just blew!
i personally do not like having anything with an amplifier on a UPS... the UPS is not generating the cleanest 60 Hz sine wave in the world and i'm sure the power going out caused something funky to happen. could be that the power supplies used in your speakers (switching, likely) didn't like the low...

isn't the winter NAMM typically more boring than the summer NAMM? less stuff in general, fewer companies?

Re: Automating Solo Button
I dont think you can automate the solo button, but as a work around put utilities set to reduce the gain of the track down to nothing on each track then automate the device on/off switch for these utilities. ie. this allows you to automate turning the track on/off. Not ideal as its not the same as ...

^ is that down the nose intellectual bit you're pulling supposed to be ironic too? Indeed ...yes! Never miss an oportunity as they say :D Your mistake was again focusing on the obvious statement and not reading between the lines at the dry humour burried within. It may take some time..... but in th...

Re: Automating Solo Button
i've always thought that it was kind of weak that the solo couldn't be automated in Live - it sure would beat muting 10 other channels or chopping out a bunch of audio to get the same effect (that's what i have to do now to get the solo effect, run a section in loop mode and chop until it feels like...

Re: U.S. Tax Gurus- Some assistance, please.
i am certainly not a guru, but i did have a significant amount of 1099 income from music for many years so i am a little bit familiar with the ins and outs of taxes. the big question is, do you have enough potential deductions that add up to more than the standard deduction(let's just assume that yo...

Re: How the fuck do americans put up with this?
All I can say is that I can't stand most of the people I deal with everyday. They are ignorant, insecure, self serving baby makers with little to no cultural awareness. I just happen to be American. I'm sure, no matter where I lived, I'd feel the same way. People just suck.. Happy Holidaze! Fucking...

Re: Best Way to Connecting my Computer To my Amp for Live Gigs?
you have a couple of areas where gain structure would be an issue - the output of the Macbook, the input of the KC-350. the 1/8 stereo-to-two-RCA-w/1/4" adapters is absolutely fine if it's a half decent cable, that is not where your problem lies. i would keep the volume of the Macbook at about 60-75...

fuck this thread is making me feel old  in my case it's more realising the incredible growths on shit music while time progresses. well, that sounds like the old days where better... hmmm... in respect to the amount of good tunes vs bad tunes, surely yes. 10 years ago it was still possible to ...

i do the low passed reverb thing to kick drums all the time - to emulate the sound of a room mic, fiddle around with the predelay to get either a very slightly delayed verb to get the kick to be more distinct in the mix, or sometimes further to get an 8th note ghost kick "pump" for techno.
