For Maximum Native Efficiency with Live on a MacPro

MacPro DUal 3 Ghz / 3GB RAM / 500 GB HD for recording / 500 GB HD for sample libraries. Apogee Symphony card, Rosetta 800, Big Ben.

Should I use:
UAD cards and /or TC Powercore for plugs to ease cpu tasks for Kontakt/BFD/Stylus?

Any other suggestions?

Much appreciated and Best Regards always,

Hi Krisstoff, the topic comes up in regular intervalls, and this is why some folks react a bit harsh to it. People here on the forum did a lot of tests and as a result allways came to the conclusion that nothing is wrong with Live. However, as a reaction to those threads we also did internal tests ...

Excellent ideas comments everyone!. Shout-outs to my fellow Canadian countrymen!

I will Freeze more, Print more, save Waves for last and use my newly purchased UAD card for verbs etc.

Much appreciated.

These are the finished tracks recorded additively. The performance issues happens durring playback (mixing)

Am I EXPECTING TOO MUCH from LIVE?

I am resisting the temptation of buying Logic or Digital Performer to run Live through for the much needed STABILITY. Mac Activity monitor displays 90-100% while Live's CPU monitor displays 20-30% ??? My Gear: MacPro dual 3Ghz / 3GB RAM / Apogee Symphony-Rosetta 800-Big Ben / 2x 500 GB SATA Drives( ...

Thank you sqook. Great info.

For now I'm just going to run 2 drives. One for audio only, the other for Kontakt libraries.

Maybe try a RAID later on.

RAID on a MacPro dual 3Ghz

Hi all,
currently i have only one additional internal drive.
I was thinking that maybe setting up a RAID with another drvie will help overall performance. my sessions are typically many Kontact samples, waves SSL plugs
and audio tracks.

anybody have experiences to share?

always appreciated,
