There's quite a bit of additional content in the box. The first CD contains "Live Packs" that include the new "Simpler" presets/samples and "Impulse" kits... they will be available to download from this site soon for all registered Live5 users. The second CD contains further Live Packs, which compri...

I like most of them - a good selection. More would be fun. I'm not bothered about making my own, though!

Favourites not yet mentioned by anyone:

Business (which I'm using currently), Fungus (very nice in spite of the name!) and all time favourite - PINE.

Yes, that's al;ways been the case with Reason - the printed manual is always just the getting started guide, but the PDF is the real thing (same with all Propellerhead products in fact - ReCycle and ReBirth too). Live has always included the full manual in print, which personally I much prefer. Also...

Yes, it's just formatted differently for the PDF. The content does appear to be identical :)

Are these extra to those on the two CDROMs, or are these duplicates for those who only upgraded as a download?

Also, will they be advertised to registered users so we know they are arrived?

Cheers

New Simpler presets???

I think I'm probably being particularly dumb here... (and far be it for me to moan  )... but what happened to the 100 promised new Simpler presets? I bought the boxed upgrade, downloaded the program from the site, received the box today and installed all the Live Packs (which so far as I can t...

Thanks headquest. Would Sibelius be of any use if you cannot read sheet music? No, not really. Although you can play in music using a MIDI keybaord, use the bundled Kontakt player, and burn to CD, it is basically software that is squarely aimed at reading/writing music. And it's super expensive con...

Notation is written music. A notation program such as Sibelius gives you the tools you need to "engrave" professional-quality music scores to be used by performing musicians. Also, however, you can save a Sibelius score as a MIDI file and import it into Ableton Live/etc. When I want to produce a lon...

Well one improvement I really like in Live 5's MIDI editor is the ability to hear/preview the notes as you input them (or not - it's switchable). I find that ... erm ... simply better!

But within the next few days the beta is going completely public, so you can all see for yourselves

Yeah, Captain, I think that's the real biggie. It seems possible to do everything you want three times as fast in Live! I got so fed up with other sequencers - Cubase particularly, but Tracktion as well - because of needing to faff around adjusting stuff constantly rather than geting on with creatin...
