i doubt i'll be able to make it up to dickes b any time soon, but you might want to talk to the guys at ausberlin. it's on the top side of alex, opposite side from the bcc. they might be quite interested in hosting something like that.

I use 2 screens as well - just upgraded the external one to a 23" Cinema HD, and it's the best thing since sliced bread. I use them mostly for media stuff though. I develop strictly on one screen and usually with my nose almost touching it.

thank god we can call 'traditional' vocoders something like dead. spectral analysis sound soooo much more evil. (and we like evil!)

I'll agree with you 100% - but for someone who's just getting started beatsmithing they should learn the medium before learning to break it. that funky sound was new at the time, and fresh, but a lot of beginners are in much more danger of overloading their tracks than not having enough drums. i'm n...

As someone who's been using Logic and Ableton both for a while, I don't think you can compare them very easily. The programs are too different. On the subject of overload, it's the case with _any_ DAW that if you don't watch your resources it'll kill your system. Resource management is part of the g...

this is your problem.

if you're working in session view, do everything in session view.

P.S - Great idea for beginners. Also, just pick a few beats and copy 'em. You'll soon start to see how tracks from different genres are built up. I agree entirely, take your favorite track, and try to recreate the beat. If you can do it in under a day and a half, either you're a drummer or it's not ...

hey majnun, i've got a remote zero sl on my desk here, and, IMHO, it's not perfect even when it's at its best. so a couple of questions to start off; - do you think automap is working correctly? - have you read the manual to learn how the templates work? if you can give me an idea whether automap is...

if you don't want to get a better interface, you can just use a bunch of separate laptops. you get two stereo tracks per laptop, and you can pipe the sound over a network with AUNetSend and AUNetReceive. So, theoretically, for the small price of 20 laptops you could record 40 stereo tracks simultane...

i can't think of any neat hacks to do that pre live 6 either.

(though, personally, if you want a good sampler, i'd look at something else. i use the ableton samplers a fair bit for simpler stuff, i love how quick and easy they are, but if you're sampling a lot take a look at kontakt)
