You can run a repair off of the xp cd and that will allow you to keep the programs but I would not recommend any hacks to do it. If you have all of your data all backed up and want to try a repair method then here is a link. http://www.informationweek.com/showArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=STKGFAI0KVUKAQS...

You can save the data, preferably to an external drive (but you already did that right ) bu not programs You can install xp over itself but it is going to rewrite the registry and lose any links to the installed programs. You'll need to reinstall. There are hacks out there to do it but I would...

Two separate people very close to me had serious meth addiction going on, and at the lowest point of that mess had experiences with Jesus Christ wherein their addiction was completely removed from them with a total absence of the usual intense withdrawal symptoms. Must be some kind of built-in surv...

A trick that Paddy from Pitch Black offered that I thought was really good was to take your midi clip and make a copy on a seperate midi track. Then make that feed the midi to the bassline track. Offset the notes by a bit (use your ears) and then play them both at the same time. It created some grea...

I'd have to say the grand cacophony/euphony of sounds that are a night at Burning Man.

and

the sound of my son when he was about 2 in such a giggle fit that he just fell over. I wish I had recorded it.

I think USB powered interfaces are fine for audio in most situations. I think it is when you are doing multiple input recording that it becomes a problem. If you just have one or two tracks then it is well within USB standards to be able to handle this. I agree that firewire is a much better option ...

I have 3 or more computers at my desk at any given time. The ableton forum is always up on one or another, I use Firefox so I have tabs open for other forums and what not. I used to sit at work and do my mix downs when things were slow. Then some brown nosing weasel told my manager that all I do all...

Thanks guys...that helps a lot. I already have M-Audio Firewire Solo that will connect to my laptop via Firewire and then output to my mixer. Sounds like I will be in business. I have tried over and over to download the Ableton 6 demo, but when I open the ZIP file it says it is not a valid ZIP arch...

"Once you assign the clip to a note or key then you can use whatever midi controller that you want to "fire" that clip." Can you explain what this means? I thought all I needed was Ableton Live. What is a midi controller? I thought that was what Ableton Live was? What do you mean by "fire that clip...

It also might be the drive.

If you can go find an external case for it and see if you can mount it on another machine.

Then copy all your stuff so you have a back up.

When I see a machine blue screen then boot up then blue screen later it always seems to be that the drive is going bad.
