Freeze Function: Live 5 vs ProTools

Hello all-- I wrote a very long-winded post a couple days ago about whether Live 5's track-freeze function could help me with a potential RAM-hog in a Finale 2006 upgrade, so I wouldn't have to add RAM (I only have 512 mb). A Finale user has been using a freeze function in ProTools. Since nobody ans...

Freeze Function in 5: Linking to Finale?

Hello all-- I have a question about the Freeze function upcoming. I'll probably ramble. Please try to be patient... Finale, considered by many to be the flagship music notation program (no flames from Sibelius users  ), is about to release a major upgrade. For the first time, its sound output ...

Sorry, Mosca (and others). I thought it would be clear that it was on the web site I have the link for. I apologize if I wasn't clear about that. Here's direct links: http://www.soundclick.us/fastkG/09/02/freemp3/johntenney+vivalasvegaspart1.mp3 and http://www.soundclick.us/fastkG/09/02/freemp3/john...

My first Live 4-created tracks!

Hello all-- I finally finished a version of my Las Vegas improvisation that I've been working on since I first got Live 4. Since I'm not in a place to be actually doing live performance, I decided to try a recorded performance, which I then lightly edited. It's on my SoundClick site below. It's a mi...

Adamjay, I have Macaroni installed, which is routinely repairing permissions every week. I think that should be taking care of it, but I'll maybe do a manual extra just to be sure. Thanks.

Crossfader and CPU usage

Hey all-- Is it always true that using the crossfader (especially fairly quickly) causes a spike in CPU? I notice it consistently jumping 15-20 points just for those few seconds. Settles back pretty OK, but there's the potential for audio dropouts at that point. Any thoughts? Could it be my Mac? I'm...

Jeez, Adam, I wish my setup was so simple... The set I'm working on is 28 tracks, I've got 360 files (including .asds) in my self-contained folder, I'm running 2 different reverbs for different sounds, eqs, a multi delay, a Supatrigger, I've got 50 key assignments (caps and lower case both) and 2/3 ...

Conny, AudioFinder is indeed Mac; sorry; I thought they had a Windows version. Glad you like my stuff. There's others at www.soundclick.com/johntenney (I have about 25 posted there), plus others I can't post because I used loops in them and the site is very tough about that (I could get kicked off)....

On another subject, specifically answering Conny. Are you familiar with AudioFinder? I've heard a lot about it, have not gotten into it yet (it's not freeware) but have plans to. It's www.icedaudio.com. Also, I too really like the idea of a "note pad" area in the Live window(s). Have you posted anyt...

A really good thread, people! I've had a similar experience in working with synthesized voices in my own music (not done with Live, not yet anyway, but with Reason). The commercial synthesis demos often give really weird inflections, pronunciations etc. to "dialogue" I've written, which often causes...

Good one, Lightshy! Like your drum sounds. Very subtle overall. Nice use of voiceover too (like to do that in my own work). Congratulations.

Well, I got into Konfabulator, and found a nice, plain, minimal-graphic no-bullshit stopwatch/timer, loaded it and stuck it right where I could kick it off as I triggered the first scene (it can be configured semi-transparent so you can see stuff under it). Everything worked fine, but on a hunch (wi...
