punch pedal - recording guitar loops - amp micing

All, I'm a guitarist recording loops into live - trying to figure out how to use a foot pedal to punch in and out of audio loops I'm recording in live. I'm pretty clueless as to midi, but get the impression that's the direction I need to understand. Here's what I've got. - I'm mainly just micing an ...

had another thought seeing comments about a 1 string wonder. The bass-line to sweet emotion might apply here as an early guitar lesson if they're into Aerosmith. Guitar part is pretty straightforward too in places.

some of the stuff I thought was cool when I was learning. Johnny B. Goode - by Chuck Berry - at least just the boogie to start with, and then learning the solo part at the start The "A Team Theme" - the part starting about 48 seconds in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ruV-vVSaHs One of the first gui...

I'm a rock guy checking out Ableton, but this is pretty cool. like the squarewave sounding syth, and you got a good melody and movement. the echoey part at about 2.40 to the end is cool.

thanks for the help everybody and thanks for the patience. I'm sorry if these questions are terribly simplistic to users, and I'm not posting to try to agitate. If there are folks like me posting questions like this it's often because we've seen some very cool stuff on you tube vids (the keymapping ...

Homebelly - thanks for your pointers. I think I'm close - and I think I can see what you talk about when I highlight all and drag to session view and try to position things. Here's a link with screenshots of my arrangement view and session view as they currently are. http://slowgroove.blogspot.com/2...

I think part of the answer may be in here http://www.ableton.com/pages/tips/2004_12 Bounce to Track, Resample and Render and maybe here: http://www.ableton.com/pages/tips/2004_10 Get Your Guitar Groove On although in this tutorial it seems like it's creating the loops in the scenes on the fly. I hav...

Q: Newbie Help. I've got 8 tracks of 8 bars of audio...

I want to create loops of the different audio takes and start creating different scenes so I can start mixing and matching loops - but can't figure out what I need to do to make it happen. Can someone tell me what the name of what I'm trying to do - or point me to a tuturial that talks about doing t...

Re: microphones

I don't think many use large diaphragm mics on kick. dynamics li...

thanks everybody for responses. I wasn't seeing much and this helps me understand why. It's a shame as a mixing surface can really make a big difference when working.

Q: Popular DAW control surfaces used with Live?

All, what are popular DAW control surfaces used with live when used in a studio/DAW type application. I'm thinking primarily faders/record enable/disable, pan, jog wheel, solo/mute, etc... I'm coming from a hardware DAW (Emu Paris) and am wondering what folks using Live would use as a similar interf...

If I was on a tight budget an SM57 is the way I'd go. You're going to need money on lots of other stuff and it's a good mic for lots of sources, and will still be useful for lots of stuff even when you have the funds to buy other better specialty mics. I have TLM103 and KSM44 but think highly of the...

I guess it depends on how you work, but I find it handy to have a "knob" and source selector to send stuff through. I'm using a Furman SRM-80 that lets me switch between sources (CD, soundcard, other DAW) and like the flexibility. I had a Hafler preamp that I used to use and liked alot, but it start...

I'm a newbie, but I've found for just layering a single track I'm fine with just turning monitoring off and listening to my amp live with the take (sortof have headphones on my head listening to everything I've recorded up to now, but still hearing my guitar amp externally). I haven't messed around ...
