its pretty straightforward: the orange dot refers to the playing position of the clip in relation to the master tempo. So if you have your quantize set to 1/4, and trigger the clip a little late into the bar, youll see the orange clip on the 1/4 mark, indicating that the clip is playing out of sync ...

if ableton 6 cannot do this, then does anyone know of an osx solution, perhaps a way to map a new curve using one of those midi translator programs? I would love to have a nice tight curve for fast on-off scratch clicks without having to lug a dj mixer around...

the only thing that comes to mind is the similar problem with the xsession controller, in which case it involves making sure that the button is always sending a 127 message, rather than alternating between 127 and 0. Hope that helps...
