i love it, no doubt. I think that a scratched oscillation adds wonderful depth to an arrangement, its the antithesis of a step sequencer, samples with a human touch. That said, a more elaborate pitch shifting setup is really beneficial (such as shifting using a midi keyboard), ive always thought the...

btw the thread is called "music should be free" not "music should be marketed differently." i think the point of this thread might be that it is the artist that should be marketed differently, not the music. The music has no need of monies. It is only the artist that needs recompense. Nebulae has i...

hey now, all he is saying, if a little belligerently, is that an album worth buying is more than a simple recording these days. Albums are multi-art packages, and asking people to pay for what is effectively promotional material for their live acts is a hard sell these days. Give me a finished piece...

ya, not meant to be snarky.:] I suppose the thing that really bugs me is all the discussion surrounding the act of selling or owning a work of silence. 4'33'' is basically a rebuttal to structured and orchestrated approaches to music. Its a matter of context, and of random happenstance. Any visceral...

I just wouldn't buy it. and let's then pause for a moment to reflect that all the things that make sound and music so pleasing and remarkable have nothing to do with economic gain or transaction. If reality forces us to make a buck off our creations, then so be it, but to claim that some piece of w...

You might find that Molar vsti is what you're looking for. Although designed around the monome platform, it accepts all manner of midi input control, and is a really powerful sampler, slicer and midi sequencer. It's awesome. Does take some digging through the forums to grasp though...

live 'not supported on this architecture' error; new macbook
Hi folks. Ive just pulled a shiny new macbook pro unibody from its packing, gone through the migration assistant, and im now sitting on my desktop, cursing the fact that Live doesnt want to launch. The icon is missing in the dock, showing a file with a slash through it, with an error that pops up re...

yeah, i use both the original xsession and the pro. The pro does have some jitter to a few of its midi knobs and the bottom crossfader. If you can get a replacement, give that a try i would suggest. Ive enjoyed it overall though, its got nice smooth upfaders, and the crossfader is loose if light. If...

i think you may find things easier if you abandon the notion of actually switching between complete sets. One approach is two use to banks of tracks, say 4 tracks each, such that each bank can accept one whole songs worth of clips etc. Then set up a routing system to allow you to crossfader between ...
