Yeah man, that seems poor. Which gives me the shits because i was thinking of picking up the (almost) identical Dell laptop!! That seems about double what it should be, so only think I can think of is powersaving? If your processor cuts its power in half to save juice, it would seem that Live would ...

The problem is that the lamen (read 97% of people listening to your music at a gig), will call you a DJ, even if you've never been behind a set of decks in your life. i.e. Me. People come up to me after a gig and say stuff like "Nice one DJ Timmo" or "Way to go DJ man", and I used to try and correct...

Laptops with UXGA+ crazy resolution

I'm looking at getting a Dell Inspiron 9300 with the 17" 1900x1600 (or thereabouts) resolution. Is anyone using one of these with that crazy ass resolution currently in a studio/live setup? It has that really glassy screen on it like some Toshibas, and im wondering about glare, as well as how the in...

"CPU is going whack and need to render some newly applied effects to these loops."

Then just do it! If it sounds good after you render it then leave it, if not... thats what unlimited undo is for :)

Is it ok to re-render a loop? in short: if you have really good reason too If the loop was normalized the first time, should it be normalized the second time? Not unless you did something to it that affected the gain after you normalized it the first time. But one would ask why you normalized it tha...

nope. Dont know many people in this country yet :)

So even if it does well on the performance test, and all my other audio apps run great, there is still something else amiss you guess?

I'll see if i can find another comparable box sometime to test it out.

thats ridiculous. i think something is wrong with your machine. Wow. My machine did a 27% on the performance test, which puts it in the good performer region I believe. It is tweaked to the gills and runs great... until I start piling on things in Live. I can usually have 3 impulses, a simpler, z3t...

One other reason to mix externally is because of the sheer processing hog that Live is. I was used to having 24+ tracks all with VST's and EQ's running in CubaseSX with about 80% processor usage on a P4 3ghz. Now, I'm lucky if I can get 8 tracks going before Live does it's "Lock up for 10 minutes wh...

if you have any vst fx other than the vsti you will incur latency. Especially if you have anything on the master bus.

in order to get a spot on render using fx, you have to either use abletons plugins or compensate manually.
