Re: Kontakt 4 vs Sampler.

The "free" kontakt on NI's website is kontakt player. Therefore you can't do much with it except playback. The real kontakt let's you modify sounds, script and do a lot of stuff. I think it's regarded as the #1 vst sampler by lots of people, because you can hear so many people praising it, and so ma...

Re: Live + 3rd party plugins = FAIL

Ok good point, I can reproduce too ! (I had to use a native instuments compressor with lookahead, cause I found out that most plugins I have are actually 0 latency !)

Re: Live + 3rd party plugins = FAIL

Ok just to be clear : track 1 : sample -> deactivated beat repeat track 2 : sample -> deactivated camel space -> deactivated beat repeat -> utility totally cancels ! you didn't get the point, of courese they cancel here cause as not active, beat reapeat won't suffer of clock offset, just do same te...

Re: Live + 3rd party plugins = FAIL

Ok just to be clear : track 1 : sample -> deactivated beat repeat track 2 : sample -> deactivated camel space -> deactivated beat repeat -> utility totally cancels ! With camel space to get canellation you need to put mix to zero and volume to exactly 0dB - it normally resets to -10dB which of cours...

Re: 64 bit

they should first deallocate and clear memory that was allocated by a deleted plugin/internal effect before start addressing the 64bit issue. use some memory hungry plugin (or even a big live rack with sampler), notice the memory consumption of live, delete the plugin, or even close the set. notice...

Re: Live + 3rd party plugins = FAIL

I use lots of plugins, mainly EastWest Play, Kontakt4, Omnisphere, and Geist. I also use various effect plugins and I don't hear any problems. After reading this article, I exported a midi session from live and put it in logic with the same plugs. No difference. Well, try something like I did bello...

Re: Which one is best for pop/rock?

Live has excellent workflow for creating phrases and then arranging them on the fly into a track. Its workflow for mix down stage however is weaker than more conventional DAWs Would you mind elaborating ? I completely fail to see why it's weaker for thez mix-down stage ? Do you mean, because of the...

Session view "snapshots"

Don't you think it would be neat if we had the possibility t create session view snapshots, and launch them just like we launch scenes ? By snapshot, I mean saving all the clips states (playing or stopped), volume, pan, plugin parameters, evezn maybe tracks states (muted, soloed, etc ...) and so on,...

Re: The Mixing Engineer's Handbook

Rick Snoman's Dance Music Manual, 2nd edition. http://www.amazon.com/Dance-Music-Manual-Second-techniques/dp/0240521072/ref=dp_ob_image_bk IMHO, the best music technical book ever written. I second this. Also, keep in mind that despite the title, it's not only about dance music : it covers a lot mo...
