Re: Finding the Note or key in an Audio sample?

Plug in your midi keyboard, and find notes that sound good. Make your ears work and try and guess which is the root note, or the main note.

Time to learn moosic!

Re: "Out Of Memory" Error

Simply put, Ableton is Out of Memory cos you used it all up! VST instruments are most likely solution, that's what I get a lot with a particular VST I use. I got locked out of a set once, I managed to save it but could never open it again, and I thought it was a goner! Tip 1: If you are on windows, ...

Re: CPU Load Meter

Whether it's normal depends on what you are doing =) But no, it's certainly not desirable. If nothing is playing it should be just a few percent. I find that much over 50% and *things* start to happen

Re: How do you make Tremolo?

If your Strat can't cope with a whammy bar then the sooner you break it and buy a real one the better! Seriously, Strats are there to be abused.

Re: How do you make Tremolo?

Yeah, I always get yelled at it when I refer to it as a "Tremolo Bar," even thought I'm half right because despite the fact that it doesn't make the tremolo effect, that's still a name for it. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremolo_bar nothing wrong with calling it a "tremolo bar" it's just wrong ...

Re: Ableton Guitarists

Ooh that's very interesting, thanks for the link. Wonder when it's out for real, it says in Alpha on the website. S EDIT: Got a reply from them 1) It says Alpha on the website, got an expected date? A beta demo is expected in April. 2) Will it be spendy? What's your intended price range $69 - not ve...

Re: Is Ableton for beginners?

Live was the first DAW I ever managed to get anything started in. It just made immediate sense. Took me months to understand wtf the arrangement view as for though, and then love became passion!

Re: mastering with ableton

Actually I thought that was a pretty good analogy! One thing that continues to defeat me is loudness, loud always sounds betterer, science! So what happens is this; you tweak some control, everything gets louder and therefore your ear tells you that you just improved it, so you go away happy.... wro...

Re: mastering with ableton

EITHER: Get a copy of Ozone and go through the steps I did: 1) Loudness Maximiser: Use it and go WOW!, overuse it, come back a week later and realise you crushed the death out of everything and dial it back to sane levels. 2) Exciter: Use it and go WOW!, over use it, come back a week later and... yo...

Re: Stability progress statment from Ableton

Suffice to say that this is the most unstable version of Live for the widest range of people, for the longest length of time that has ever existed. Suffice it to say that you just made that up with a good dash of hyperbole to make it sound like SCIENCE! The only time Live crashes for me is when I r...
