Re: Snow Leopard Gold Master

I'd say you will notice a small speed increase in Ableton mainly because the OS should be a bit faster (off-loading some tasks to the GPU in some cases) and Ableton will continue to optimize with each new version of 8 (I am hoping 8.0.5 and 10.6 will be in my hands around the same time). I read some...

Snow Leopard Gold Master

It seems that build 10A432 of Snow Leopard has been designated gold master. As soon as I can get my hands on it I will be installing it onto my MBP (along with Windows 7), so all my Mac brothers (and sisters?) keep an eye on this thread for impressions, etc...

Jeffrey Gilbert, tyrant king of Gilbertsville, NY, at your service. It is certainly enjoyable to sit atop my thrown while I watch my serfs slaving away in the fields all day (basically... I am unemployed)...

Re: Live and Apple Net Book

maybe, if it truly exists, it will push down the cost of the Lemur since I can see it having very similar functions (Super TouchOSC or whatnot)...

Re: OT: Weird Audio issue with skype on Mac...routing?

hmmm, that is indeed peculiar... this could actually just be how Skype works (I have the built in camera so I have never experimented with outboard gear). If you can see the audio input in OS X then I am not sure why Skype will not recognize the signal (you may want to try Soundflower http://www.cyc...

Re: OT: Weird Audio issue with skype on Mac...routing?

Ummm, can't you just daisy chain the Firewire devices (plug the canon into the Maudio box and plug the Maudio card into the computer. Then you can set Skype to use the Maudio for audio and the DV camera for video (or even just use the Canon for both if it sounds good enough - it does have a Mic, yes...

Re: OT: Batterylife of my Macbook Pro

yeah, 138 cycles in 16 months is not a lot... make sure to cycle that battery at least once a week (drain it down to 50% or lower). I had my battery replaced for free outside of the warranty period because I had only cycled it 32 times in about 16 months...

There is also this:

I have the version of the book that corresponds with Live 7 as well as a book in the same series called "Midi Power" and I really enjoy them both.

Re: Running Live,Max & Record exclusively on PC - XP or Windows7

Yeah, if you have 4 gigs, you may want to consider Windows 7... I still would hold off on that decision until Windows 7 has been completely tested stability wise (XP is very stable at this point running SP3)... Windows 7 will also take up more RAM/processor cycles just to run, although I don't think...

Re: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger...

Yeah it is definitely a Talk Box... have one myself and I must admit they are somewhat tough to use (I wonder if my braces have any affect on the sound). The best waveform to use for clarity is going to be some sort of Square Wave (preferably FM... DX-7, etc.)...

Re: Running Live,Max & Record exclusively on PC - XP or Windows7

Windows 7 will allow for more RAM to be installed and accessed by your PC... [From ZDnet] Here are the upper RAM limits for the different editions of Windows 7: * Starter: 8GB * Home Basic: 8GB * Home Premium: 16GB * Professional: 192GB * Enterprise: 192GB * Ultimate: 192GB Anyway, I would suggest W...
