Re: Beginner Q re. Drum Programming methods?

Easiest way would be to use an empty drum rack, drag the sounds you want into that, then you can effect the individual drums as they have their own track. Or use an existing kit, same deal. Hang on, but wouldn't that drum rack still be in only one track? How can I apply effects to the individual dr...

Re: iTunes Music Doesn't Appear in Folder

Live lite doesn't support mp3 or other compressed audio formats. You'll either have to convert everything to .wav/.aiff or upgrade to the full version of live.

Re: What is Session Automation and why does everybody want it?

The relative vs. absolute is not an obstacle in all environments. For example, automation recorded in NI Maschine is always relative. This means that changing a knob will "shift" the recorded automation. I prefer this, I prefer the relative recording instead of absolute. As I said, there are uses f...

Re: What is Session Automation and why does everybody want it?

Huh - that's all it is? No, the major problem with the clip envelopes is that they are relative vs automation being absolute. You can actually copy a piece of recorded automation from the arrangement view and paste it to a clip's envelope. But while automation changes the controlled parameter from ...

Re: Drum Machines Authorization

I'm pretty sure some of the "lighter" versions don't have access to Drum Racks though but that's more understandable. afaik live light/intro let you play drum rack presets from the library or add-ons, but you can't edit them or create your own. Normal Live lets you edit presets and design your own ...

Re: Long loading times with Ableton 8

It used to take ages for me too. 8.2.2b1 had a fix to a bug that made live rescan the plugin folder on every start. Since I got the update it starts around 5x as fast.

8.2.2b2 = 8.1 ?

More of a website bug than a beta bug, but I opened up the 8.2.2b1 today, checked for updates and got redirected to this page:

Re: Ableton Instruments

I think The OP is talking about Instrument Racks. A number of them use Operator and if you do not have an Operator License you get a pop up telling you so and you cannot try the rack. Its a time waster and the message gets stale very quickly... I upgraded to suite with the update to v.8 so I can't ...

Re: NAMM 2011 :: Ableton Live 9

Soundcloud support? So you could export your tracks straight to soundcloud? In a list of useless new features, this would hit the top 3. What next? Ability to post facebook status updates straight from Lives UI? :D As long as they put the facebook status update button next to the App store button, ...

Re: Motu BPM or Ableton Drum rack is enough ?

Thanks for your answer. So the best way is to use only Drum Rack with a lot of samples. And for Drum Layering ? I was told that Vengeance Metrum was the absolute plugin (a sound ingeneer) to create big Kick. Do You think Drum Rack with good samples is enough ? You might have a slightly wrong impres...

Re: NAMM 2011 :: Ableton Live 9

I hear a lot of people bitching about how it's not stable. Either get a Mac or buy some good hardware. You are aware of the fact that the people moaning the most and the loudest about live 8 permanently crashing are nearly all running it on a mac? Although that's probably more of a mentality thing....

Re: Novation Launchpad: Midi Message Problem

It works good in Session, Mixer and in User 1 (assignable) modes. However, when I use it in User 2 mode, for triggering Drum Recs, I can see that Ableton receives the MIDI signal but it has no effect on the instrument, even if the relative MIDI track is rec enabled. Might possibly be because user 1...

Re: Traktor Scratch Pro or Duo...?

I thought with the discount you order directly from the NI site, no? And you'll just receive it when they have it in stock. No, because the offer is only "while stocks lasts" and it won't be in stock again. It's a sale to get rid of all old hardware / software boxes before they release a new versio...
