Re: Oriental Orchestra

The sound clips sound pretty good to me too. I don't have it but I'm also curious about how the instrument shows up in Live. If there are only 202 loops & samples, and you subtract out the loops, I wonder how many actual samples are left to play your own melodies with?! 10 samples or so per instrume...

Re: Puremagnetik

You should check out Spectrasonics Trillian for good upright bass sounds...... Thanks, that's cool how complete & realistic it is with round robin, velocity, etc, but I was hoping to find just a good small but high quality collection of raw upright bass samples that I can just load into Ableton Sam...

Re: Puremagnetik

For me it's been hit or miss, I don't do the subscription because I like to cherry pick what I need & not clutter up my HD with random choices of stuff that I'll never use or could be redundant to the samples I already have. I really like some of the quirky digital synth packs & drum kit samples! Th...

Re: Anyone here use Apples Time Capsule?

really really slow to backup via wifi and the capsule will be running constantly in the corner. Much more effective to use Time Machine and just an external HD. Exactly my experience with backup via WiFi with my Time Capsule. It's painfully slow. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal because of it b...

Re: Is Session View counterproductive?

where would you store all the content you're not using but don't want to store deep down on your HD either? Exactly, this is probably my most important use for session view. Having everything handy to be able to inject & record into arrangement view in an instant without interruption digging in fol...

Re: I want to destroy everyone at Native Instruments because...

Yeah right, it's been that way for more than a year now. They should move away from Flash & redo the whole website, the way it's implemented is really extremely bad. The endless drop down menus within drop down menus are the worst. If you slightly move your pointer to the left or right, you loose th...

Re: Macbook Air vs Old Macbook & Live

I'd think the performance would be approximately the same because cpu is less but new processor chips, but this is only a guess. I'm making about the same move, loading my Live sets onto the air next week to see how it runs. However I don't have the black book around anymore to make a direct compari...

Re: is bitwig an ableton product

Once Ableton come out with a 64 bit version & especially if they include automation to session view, and Bigwig beta is released including bugs & quirks of it's own, I think interest in Bitwig will become subsided. It at least would be brought down from the clouds to being just another option availa...

OK, so it's not cheap, but how much do you think it would cost if they designed & built their own iPad type wireless screen & included that in the package? Obviously it wouldn't cost the same price...

Re: Mackie has totally lost it..

Seriously, why does it have to have an ipad? Why not just build their own proprietary screen. Brings the cost of the hardware down for people who already own an iPad? I imagine this would cost less than the same thing with a screen & cpu built in. Also if you already carry your iPad with you anyway...

Anything by Yello, particularly from the Zebra or Motion Picture releases.

If I had to pick a single track from them it would be Houdini from Motion Picture.

Re: Do you feel burned.....

Are you sure they'd let you upgrade the same price for skipping a version as going to the next version? Might want to check into that. I tried to go from 5 to 7 awhile after 7 came out. I skipped Live 6 altogether & thought I might save some money in the process. I can't remember the exact details, ...

Re: Winter NAMM 2012 thread..

Oh I see. I'd probably have a second hardware synth that has a key bed (instead of an midi controller) in that kind of setup, that way I could plug the midi out jack straight into the Slim Phatty. Maybe a mono evolver keyboard or something that would be the right size. Most hardware synths have a mi...
