Maybe in live 9 we can have the option to freeze all tracks. There is no logical reason why they let us freeze tracks with groove quantise but not tracks with external I/O stuff going on!!!

two monitors are useful if you use vsts. Make sure 'auto hide vst windows' is set in the preferences and move your vsts to the new monitor

I've been using an asus eeepc 901 for a couple of years for gigs. I only have a maximum of 8 tracks playing at once, never tried more than that. I use a novation nio soundcard.

Works well and means i only need one small bag for gigs

I use live 8 + LAUNCHPAD + touchable iPad
+ xp sp 3 without any problems, so I think you should be ok with your setup too
