Re: the quest for the best interface

It has 6 separate output channels, 4 analog and 2 digital, and 2 analog and digital ins. I have never used the inserts but I guess I would route the channel or bus which you want to use effects on to an Ext output, for example analog 3/4, and then to your hardware effects and back to the analog in o...

Re: the quest for the best interface

Terratec firewire phasex24 is really good, high quality ad/da circuitry, linear response and low noise, better than most sound cards in the same price range. Here's a zip file ( http://arkiv.idg.se/fileArchive/studio/24/studio_20051020154428.zip ) with the results from Rightmark Audio Analyzer on th...

Want to check out some record labels, best resource?

Is there any resource that can list/filter record labels depending on genre and/or location?

Maybe you should write your own daw to be a truly electronic composer ;) People get served with technology from everywhere and just need to push a button...

Longing for max4live, would be great to have some experimental evolution and open development within live.

Re: Good berlin nightlife

Some years ago I spent a couple of weeks in berlin and then I was at watergate 8O and watched richie hawtin and ricardo villalobos, actually that was quite nice, but maybe it has changed a lot? I've been working as a development engineer for some time now, so regarding jobs it's in that area (softwa...

Re: Lost my live set after reboot! How to recover on Mac?

Hehe, strangely though your advice helped me, thanx! The thing is that I save all the files on the server, and not the computer using live. When the server crashed (didn't find the reason in the logs, but maybe the undervolting kext I'm using) we were about to watch a movie in plex and the live set ...

Re: Good berlin nightlife

I have plans to visit berlin soon as well, actually been looking to move to berlin and work, preferably with music as well ;) I read the thread about the "uptight berlin" here, so I think I have to try it some more before I dare to move hehe :?

Re: What's the difference b-tween step seq / Live's piano roll?

For me it's all about visual feedback, to be able to play without looking at the monitor. I use my monome to sequence drums and effects, and to switch/modulate between patterns on the fly.

Lost my live set after reboot! How to recover on Mac?

Was jamming with a friend of mine and got a really nice minimal synth-tech song going, however, my os x server crashed (but after we had saved the tune and live was not open). After reboot of the afp server, the modified project was gone, only the old file left! So how do I recover this file, is the...

Re: Why do new albums sound like crap?

Yep, movies are great :) One favorite of mine is the intro of Vozvrashcheniye. I've been the sound designer/mixer for one documentary, but would be fun to do more experimental stuff in a long movie.

Re: Why do new albums sound like crap?

Actually I think the sound in movies are quite good with a lot of detail and dynamics, especially blu ray. But I think the standardized master level for films is important (I think it's 75 dB), and that the systems that reproduce the sound at cinemas or well designed home cinemas are more or less st...
