Mine is mastering. I break so many rules when it comes to making things sit well. Bad use of limiters and additive EQing etc, something I am trying very hard to work on improving.

I would suggest doing the delay trick, but using the Filter Delay instead. Turn the middle delay off, and set the L and R delay times very short, with very little feedback. If you have one delay set at 2ms and one at 10, it will spread the track out nicely. You then have the power to use the filters...
