Holy moley, finally I have an answer! It was that the PSU I was using (got shipped an EU one and I'm in the UK) wasn't up to snuff - Just bought an adapter for the original one and it appears all is well.
What an idiot but phew, the beat goes on.

Re: APC strange small fader / pan movements
Right, I seem to have narrowed it down somewhat. There are 6 channels of mp3s that work fine, however if i try drag the old quotes channel in from the sidebar it instantly goes mad. The "key" lights start flashing and the bottom info bar starts it's warnings about values waiting to be pick...

APC strange small fader / pan movements
Hey there, having a strange issue with a set on live 8.0.4 when using the APC. Essentially, a little while after hitting play and jamming with clips in session view I start getting weirdity between the two - a couple of the pans start moving a little to the left (indicated in live and on the APC), a...

From my experience, you've gotta assign the footswitch using cmd/ctrl+m

Re: Freeze/Flatten without the Efx?
Yeah I'd say so. I don't think routings are frozen with the track so dupe the track, delete the midi from one, the fx from the other. Freeze the midi track, route it to the fx track. Win, I think... cba to boot up the mac and check at the mo. Edit: what Alex said! I think mine's cool for Live 7 and ...

Automating hardware with the APC...?
Hey all, Slight predicament. I'd like to be able to automate my bits of hardware in Live using the APC knobs. It'd be neat to be able to tweak everything through Live and be able to record movements in the same way I can with VSTs and devices. At the mo I'm using lane automation and a mouse however ...

Re: external instrument and KP3 issues.
Ah ha OK, I didn't realise it had a set of main outs, then 1-8 line outs in addition. 1/2 may be linked to the main outs (probs a setting) which is why you're confused. With the power button muting the single track, we're on the right path. So with out 3/4 you get silence... using out 3/4, and plugg...

Re: external instrument and KP3 issues.
Hey, I've got a firebox and I use it with external effects so I may be of some use :) Which out pair are your monitors connected to? Set the KP up on outputs 3 and 4, and back in through inputs 3 and 4. You should ideally be using 1/2 for your monitors, and the firebox by default outputs to 1/2, so ...

Re: Arduino vs Midibox?
Hey, I've got one of doepfer's Pocket Electronic gadgets, and what with the release of MfL stating you can direct connect devices to it (ie without MIDI) I will be picking up an arduino ASAP. I've used the PE and Bome's to do some pretty complex stuff but I'm not exactly fond of MT. Don't get me wro...

Re: Ableton live two outputs?
Hey, following on from inakiesarte - You gotta set up your soundcard in the preferences, cmd+, then in Audio under inputs and outputs assign your stereo pairs. Once that's done, you''l have access to them in the main I/O section of the session view - click the I/O button in the bottom right, and und...

Re: RAGE @ Beatport(WARNING- EXPLICIT LANGUAGE!)
I'd imagine that's exactly the reason they do cut it short, to get you all wound up... but instead of exploding over a board about it to go "you know what that sounds like it's gonna be badass" and buy it. Customer happy, beatport happy. Alternatively, it covers if the tune is actually shi...

Re: How can I set the default swing to 'none' in Live 8?
I'm sure this is doable, from what I remember it's a setting in preferences somewhere, like the default warping scheme for clips is beats till you change it.
