Holy moley, finally I have an answer! It was that the PSU I was using (got shipped an EU one and I'm in the UK) wasn't up to snuff - Just bought an adapter for the original one and it appears all is well.

Yeah I'd say so. I don't think routings are frozen with the track so dupe the track, delete the midi from one, the fx from the other. Freeze the midi track, route it to the fx track.
