Re: Live 8.2.6 Crashes on startup

I'm using Windows 7. ADMIN rights. UAC turned off etc. Sony VAIO i3, 2.13 GHz, 4GB RAM. Live 8.2.6 Sound-cards: Various. Doesn't seem to make much difference. My Toneport UX1 is the most stable with Ableton. I've put away my brand new Roland Quad-Capture for the time being because I was getting even...

Live 8.2.6 Crashes on startup

I'll click on the Ableton Shortcut. It can crash anywhere between 3-5 times before opening a new Live set. I thrashed my Preferences.cfg recently. I think that helped a bit for a bit but it didn't cure anything. I'm curious to know if there could be any obvious reason for these Crashes. Maybe someon...

Re: LIve 8.2 crash on startup

When I had this (on an earlier version) I had to delete the preferences file, then re-ran (or reinstalled can't remember) then it worked fine ever since. If I'm not mistaken it was caused by a corrupted Preferences.cfg file in /{username}/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 8.2 folder (or in my case L...

Re: Ableton 8.2.6 needs a health check.

What a long Thread already! :)

Tried ASIO4ALL with Ableton. Loaded quite a few instruments before Live crashed again. Now it 'errors' seriously every time I try to re-open the set.

Another restart is in order I suppose.

Re: Ableton 8.2.6 needs a health check.

Well, I have no idea where this is going but out of sheer frustration, I've been testing Reaper. 8O I eventually managed to crash it! :) I was unable to use the latest Roland Quad-Capture ASIO Driver after the crash (without a restart of course). I was however able to change to a Roland Quad-Capture...

Ableton 8.2.6 needs a health check.

I'm getting a lot of crashes. In a bid to get 'some' work done I'm breaking one of my Live Sets into smaller sub-sets. Trying to anyway. The idea: My Live Set seems to be running into memory issues and crashing at the drop of a hat. Proposed solution: I'll make a number of smaller sets out of the un...

Re: How do I clear Live out of memory after a crash?

I reckon something has seriously gone awry with memory management in PC v8.2.6. I have had an un-merciful amount of crashes recently. Far exceeding my already generous expectations. Yesterday, I was unable to open a set after another series of crashes. I'm usually able to recover my work by dragging...

Live is up to date

Live is up to date You're running the latest version of Live 8. Failed to access the Undo history file. Switching to memory-based undo. Live will not be able to recover Sets after crashes anymore. Please consult www.ableton.com/support if this problem persists after rebooting. Christ!!! Live 8.2.6 J...

Re: Restart Roland USB Soundcard without restarting my Laptop?

I have a similar problem with the Focusrite Scarlett. If I let the computer sleep it will often disable the driver. I've found that killing the audiodg.exe process will immediately restart sound. To do this, open the task manager. You should find the audiodg.exe near the top of the Processes tab. R...

Re: Restart Roland USB Soundcard without restarting my Laptop?

Just got a reply from Roland UK.

You will not see the Quad Capture listed in Task Manager, it run at system level and is managed by "Windows Audio"

NOTE: According to Google, 'Windows Audio' as a 'Windows Process' is listed as 'audiodg.exe'.

Re: Restart Roland USB Soundcard without restarting my Laptop?

Just got another crash.

I unplugged my USB cable and left the Soundcard unplugged for a minute.
I managed to 'end process' (eventually) for Live 8.2.6.
On attempting to start Ableton again, it hung at the process ... 'Initializing audio Inputs and Outputs'.

Now I have to restart my Laptop again.
