Meters in Ableton: Useless?

Does anyone know how to display DBs next to Ableton's audio meters in session view? There's not much point to them without the DBs for me.

Re: Trying to find best sound card for using Guitar Rig in Live

I play my guitar in exactly the same way, using Guitar Rig as a VST in Live. I input my guitar through a Presonus Firebox to a prev-gen Macbook and get 8ms of latency. It works perfectly. You should be able to do the same thing with your PC since you have a firewire port. You can get a Firebox for $...

Anybody know how to do negative (preroll) measures in Live?

All my tracks have a two measure count in that just has click on it (it is not the Ableton count in click; I have an actual click track as one of my tracks). Dies anybody know how to number these so that the measures are -2, -1? I am specifically asking because it would be nice for my tracks to star...

Re: first time sweetwater order and my package arrived

It comes with every Sweetwater order. You pay a little more, but you get candy!

Now you have me thinking about EWQL Symphonic Choirs.

Don't forget, EW has a two fer one deal this month. Buy two of their packages and the send you a check for the cost of one of them.

Re: From Studio monitors to PC speakers

What model studio monitors do you have and what are the characteristics of the room in which you are mixing? Any acoustic treatment?

Re: Mac Pro - Quad-Core or 8-Core for Live and VSTs?

Thanks for all the info folks. I think the overall consensus seems to be that while Live 8 doesn't necessarily use 8 cores effectively, it doesn't mean that an 8-core machine will be slower than a quad-core. Is that safe to say? ekwipt- Good question on workflow. Right now I am doing some basic some...

Mac Pro - Quad-Core or 8-Core for Live and VSTs?

How does Live take advantage of multiple cores? Is it worth getting the 8-core 2.26GHz over the quad-core 2.93GHz? What about AUs and VSTs? Does Live effect how they utilize multi-core processors?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Re: Show Your Setup May 2009

Well, my setup is a little weird in that it is half old, half new, half a legitimate enterprise and half "place I put synths I can't bear to part with." Re: audio interfaces

I will again recommend the Presonus Firebox. It is $299, and has everything below. There are two Neutrik balanced combo inputs on the front and 6 more TRS balanced quarter-inch ins on the back. It has a headphone jack with a separate volume control. I play it live every week with no problems. I have...

Re: audio interfaces

I use the Presonus Firebox live on stage with Ableton all the time. I have never had a snap crackle or pop. Sounds great, and built like a tank. It also runs off the firewire bus so one fewer power supply to drag around.

Re: Poll: Did You Use A Crack For Live Before You Bought It?

I went from 14-day demo, to another 14-day demo on a separate machine to that horrible waiting period with no save, to Live 7 Suite. Now I have Live 8 Suite for about a week, but have not installed it yet. Just waiting for things to shake out a bit.

If your feeling really ballsy, downshift instead of braking. That way, no brake lights to warn them. The downside is they may actually hit you a little bit.
