Re: Drum Tools 02 vs 01

I just downloaded the Freebie version of Drum Tools 02 a couple days ago, and was really impressed with the quality of the samples. The kicks in particular were very nice -- nothing shocking or new, just very well constructed and executed dance kicks, balanced just right, e.g. not too boomy or overc...

Re: consolidate gain change

It's not dropping the actual level down, it's just setting the gain meter relatively to show the space between the audio's current level and normalized / clipping levels. Test for yourself -- just consolidate and hit playback, you'll notice no change in playback volume; if you did, obviously that wo...

Re: triggering with odd time signatures.

There is no bug or software issue here, you just need to make sure your looping commands are set correctly (the numbers to either side of the yellow loop/cycle button on the top right part of the screen). When you change to 6/4 from 4/4 for example, it still thinks you want to loop at 1 bar of 4/4, ...

Re: How to give more life to my stabs

Rather than buying more FX, I'd recommend simply working on learning how to create more dynamics in your mix using the tools that Ableton already offers. People resort to spending $$ on fancy toys before ever really understanding the magnificent FX devices already inside Live. They are fantastic! In...

Re: Can I export/render individual pads of a drum rack to files?

Or at least a fast way to separate each pad to different tracks, so if I had a triggered note for each sound on the first beat of the bar I could render every track separately. I believe if you expand the channel for the Drum Rack, thereby making visible the individual mix channels for each pad in ...

Re: Getting a full synth sound in Ableton Live 9 Suite

I'm shocked, shocked to learn that somebody who is brand new to music production and synthesis "can't get the synth sound [they] want." Way to be totally useless! You have no sense of entitled arrogance at all. I am absolutely astounded at your level of humility, seriously, how do you manage? :roll...

Re: Getting a full synth sound in Ableton Live 9 Suite

For later, use higher playback rates at 88200 or 96000 for great third party synthesizers. And don't listen to this nonsense, either. This guy is brand new to synthesis, Strom. Telling him to try high playback rates of 88200 etc is fucking absurd. That is literally the last thing he needs to worry ...

Re: the ultimate "I love Ableton BUT..." thread

Ableton's mix plugins aren't designed such that they could be represented easily or usefully in a small mixer strip. How does EQ8 translate to a small space in a mixer strip? Even the Compressor would be drastically reduced to fit in that sort of space. But I get it, that's the approach you like, vi...

Re: the ultimate "I love Ableton BUT..." thread

my only real problem with Ableton Live is that I'd like a proper mixing desk like Reason, with everything you need like master compressor, filters, gates etc. Yeah, that's impossible to overcome by adding devices to the tracks too. What was Ableton thinking? It's not as simple as adding devices to ...

Re: If I have around £400 to spend on VST's/Plugins....

I wouldnt get omnisphere, I would prefer Falcon. but neither are friendly synths for a beginner, something simpler with a good layout would be more Important for learning: FAW circle and Fabfilter twin2. Would be the ones I would pick for teaching. Omnisphere is perfect for a beginner. All the synt...

Re: Rendered Audio vs. Midi Synths and Plugins for Performance

3. only use native Ableton FX in any FX chains Why? So many reasons, but here are the best: 1. stability -- I had third party instruments crash ableton during a live set once. after that, I incorporated the first step above, and have never had a crash since. there are so few variables when you are ...
