SIMPLEST way to delete a clip with your feet?

Hi,

I trolled through all the posts and am still confused. How, on a Mac, can I assign a midi message to delete a clip? Is it possible WITHOUT an app like ControlAid or MidiPipe?

Can someone explain it to me in laymans terms?

Thanks very much.

i'm trying to make music here, not learn applescripting! i'm very impressed at the workarounds you've come up with just to be able to DELETE. anyway, i'll go try it. thank you!

a way to toggle RAM mode with my feet?

I can only control LIVE with my feet (FCB1010) because my hands are occupied playing the cello. Is there a way to put a batch of clips into RAM mode....via a MIDI message?? Again, I cannot use my hands. RAM mode is the only thing I've found that reduces my CPU so I can use this software onstage with...

Apple performance

I should add, regarding test of G4 tower versus laptop: I have Live 4.0 on the powerbook and an old install of Live 3.0 on the G4 tower. Probably wouldn't be a fair comparison to run them against each other.

Apple optimizaton, yes I know

Yes, others have said this too. I've been recording efficiently (and problem free) on my Macs for many years (using MOTU and DP), so I understand the issues. Again, my system is streamlined, for music only. My other music apps are running well. My only problem is with Live. That's what I don't under...

Apple performance, blah, blah...SOLUTIONS?? REFUND??

Ok, I'm trying not to get depressed. I have a brand new powerbook 12". I love it, all my music apps (Digital Performer, Peak, etc) run better on this machine EXCEPT Ableton Live. I waited for a long time before investing in what I thought would be a good stable portable Mac. My intention was to make...

new PB 12" - CPU spikes, drop outs

I've been using Ableton Live on my desktop machine (a 4 yr old G4) for several months and got a 12" powerbook in February so that I could use it in performance. From what you describe it sounds like I am having identical issues. I can't run more than 6 tracks without serious CPU spikes (from 15% to ...
