Re: is this considered "cheating" as a dj?

No, that is what a DJ should do.

what a DJ should not do is what Brad Roulier AKA 'Manufactured Superstars' AKA one of the founders of Beatport, does. They play their sets from arrangement view in Ableton. and it takes two of them to do it!

Re: Starting Live 8 quickly shows a window in left top corner.

that is InstallHelper.exe

I'm not 100% but I believe it helps with compatibility issues on Vista and Windows 7

Re: Does Ableton release their own cracks? what's the lowdown?

the most spread crack is by AiR, and they have no relationship at all with Ableton. They are the ones that just cracked the uncrackable syncrosoft stuff in cubase.

and the Ableton crack from AiR works 100%, no timers or hidden timebombs etc.

Re: which flavour of Windows 7?

I'm what you would call a 'PC Enthusiast' and the 64 bit home-premium version is enough for me...

the extra stuff in ultimate isn't really anything you need...

this shows the differences

Re: VST window disappears, doesn't come back

instead of restarting ableton have you tried deleting the track then undoing it?

but hmmm... that sounds like a typical NI product to me :P

Re: Does SoundCloud REcompress your uploads?

ive ripped stuff from soundcloud before and its always 128 kbps. so I think they do, at least for the players.. if you let people download I assume its whatever you uploaded...

or maybe the the stuff I rip is 128 on purpose from the assholes who don't want their stuff ripped, lol

Re: So what is Live still missing to make it an amazing DAW?

yeah only thing I think needs to be fixed is the GUI. it could be a lot more snappier. my PC is a beast and ableton causes gfx issues here and there...
