I'd love to get some feedback on this. Be honest. Good? Bad? Constructive criticism?

Re: Texas Live Meetup Party

Dude, you can do 20-30 mins...come on! just throw in a beat and slice it and map beat-repeat on a controller and masturbate with the other hand...I'd watch that for 20 mins... Heh, that would be a truly hellish performance! Unfortunately, I've only owned Live for a little over a month and have one ...

Re: Texas Live Meetup Party

Great plan!

I live in Austin and would like to attend. Don't think I can get enough material together in time to perform, but maybe at a future party...

Re: From loops to songs - help me break my mental block

About my "electronic" comment:

I don't want my music to immitate anyone else, but I want to make tracks that would fit well in certain DJ sets, so it does have to at least fit within the genre in which I am trying to work.

Re: From loops to songs - help me break my mental block

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I've made some good progress since I posted this thread: I now have a couple tracks recorded out into arrangement view that just need some tweaking and mixing to finish them up. Here's what really helped me make progress: Once I had one solid scene, I took the cli...

Re: What's the most productive (music) thing you've done today?

Haven't done much today so far - just woke up.

But yesterday I exported my first mixed down track in Live to see what it would sound like on my stereo. Still needs work, but I'm excited that I'm making progress and almost have a completed track.

Re: Stutter effect?

I don't understand why messing around with the offset envelope would be destructive to the clip. All you need to do is click "Clear Envelope" to return to orignal sound. Also, the offset envelope doesn't actually do anything to the clip itself, it just moves around the playback location. You can mak...

Re: any bass players/guitarists in the place ?

Here's my standard setup for guitar and bass: Modulus 5 string bass, Trace-Elliott 4x10 bass combo. I either plug bass direct into my interface or go direct from the amp head. The amp adds some nice eq. Don't use any effects although there was one preset bass effect in Live that I like and sometimes...

Re: using a loop in a live set

You will need to warp the clip first by clicking warp. This will keep your loop in sync and in tune with any tempo. The clip offset envelope lets you jog around the timing of the clip, which means you can create a whole new rhythm out of the basic clip. Then you can move the transpose envelope up or...

Re: Stutter effect?

How about creating a stutter effect with the clip offset envelope?

Re: using a loop in a live set

You could make several instances of the sample and tune each one to one of the keys you want to use, then map them to those keys. The timing may still be an issue though... I think the easiest thing would be to just have the loop in a clip and use the offset and transpose envelopes to make your prog...

Re: any bass players/guitarists in the place ?

I'm amazed at how nice my bass sounds when I plug it directly into Live. Very little processing needed. To get some busier, funky basslines going without messing up the timing, I've been dropping the tempo down to a comfortable level and then warping back up once I'm done. I love that that there isn...

Re: OT: Where do you buy your music?

Does anyone have suggestions for US shops, especially online? I'm having a hard time tracking down decent tracks on vinyl lately.

Re: Melodies

One of the key points about Justice re: Melodies, is that they support their melodies with a fairly sophisticated harmonic structure. I think a melody probably will end up sounding weaker if it is placed over a static one chord vamp as opposed to placing it within a complex moving chord structure.
