Re: basic question about using Live to control analog keyboard

I've been thinking a lot too on how you do this. In theory you use the Midi input on the keyboard. Most of the times there should say in the manual what the midi values are. So that you can change bank with CC notes and such. The reason for why is because I am going to make some music soon with a co...

Re: Jazz Lemur...

yeah, If I had the money I would probably buy one myself, but this is just a controller, and does it really add more creativity than the APC 40 does? Or any other controller for that matter. I just wanna know what are you going to use it for? perhaps performing live using it as a controller? Or maki...

Re: How to use Ableton in live gig

Sounds like fun :D Yeah, tap tempo would be the way in my opinion. If you send the metronome to the drummers headphones and THEN do tap tempo, you confuse the drummer. the drummer should take the lead, do the tap tempo thing, cue the loop to hear if it follows the drummer, start the loop and the dru...

Re: Hey audio engineers, how do you like your job?

Right now I'm just working with short films and music. Nothing fancy and I'm going to the SAE institute in Melbourne, Australia next year. At the moment I'm actually working on a feature film where the audio is complete crap and they are paying me a low fee to fix their crappy audio. Not fair, but i...

Re: the quest for the best interface

When I dig in a interface, there are many things I tend to have in mind. Frequency response, THD, I/O, loads of headroom and last but not least the A/D D/A converters. A interface can have a great frequency response and even low noise, but the converters inside could be rubbish. A good A/D D/A conve...

Re: APC40 creating high pitched noise

I can understand why people are a bit frustrated with the fact that it makes a slight "hum"... You have payed for something that you want to work flawlessly. But seriously, controllers with motorized faders make more noise than the APC40 hahaha! I tried putting mine in "vegas mode" and then the hum ...

Re: APC40 creating high pitched noise

Just checked, and mine does it too. I have never noticed since the db's of noise is so low.
It's probably just the circuit making the noise. Getting a better PSU would probably fix the problem.
So far, Still happy with the APC 40

Re: need help with mic-pre amps

I agree with 3 phase, a good tape machine synced to ableton live would add loads of tape saturation and would fatten up your tracks asap. Have you considered using plugins? anyways, a couple of good analog/tape saturation plugins are: Tritone digital ColorTone-Pro URS Saturation Plug-in McDSP Analog...
