Re: Dell Studio 15, Vostro, Latitude or what Laptop?

The dell studios are really not up to music production due to really bad unresolved dpc latency issues. i had one gave up with dell support (if you could call it that, more like it is your problem now) sold it 4 weeks old for a third less than I bought it for. Just my experience but I have read of p...

Re: Ableton 8.01 and Windows 7.......AWESOME EXPERIENCE!

Has anyone been able to run a DPC latency checker on windows 7 yet? Very interested in finding some results as DPC latency in Vista has been a right pain for me :( and I dont want to get to excited about windows 7 if this aint fixed.

Firewire is a nice option for a external hard drive but not essential, I am on usb for audio no need for multiple in-outputs for me. I was more concerned with the general power of the machine. But I think i have got the answer :)

latency below 5 ms and 20+ tracks is a tough call. I would recommend to test your set on the machine before buying. They should allow you to install the Live-demo at the shop. If not, find a different shop. 5ms is for live work only i would not normally go beyond 8 tracks of backing. 20+ tracks whe...

well there is nothing left on the pc to tweak, all updated device drivers i have gone through the whole device manager the bios turning things off one by one still no change. I am on a usb sound card not firewire so it is not a non ti chip issue, in any case I still get the latency spikes with no ex...

Novation vista drivers :(

Having just got hold of a Novation Xio to try and slim down how many boxes I have to cart around. I am a bit concerned at the performance of their vista drivers. On my old M-Audio Audiophile USB I could run a live set at 3ms latency no major problems with the audio stream. The new xio can only manag...
