Use Audacity (free sound editor) for bit depth reduction and dithering.

Very possible. But as noted above, you will need to be very precise when capturing the loops as you only have 1/4 margin when stopping. You will definitely need a midi pedal for hands free operation. There are tons of info on "live looping" in the Tips & Tricks forum. Look and search.

Sure, that shouldn't be a problem. But what do you need Logic for?

Just export the loops, import them into Live and set them to loop at the appropriate lenght. You will probably need a midi pedal to switch/stop/start the loops if you have your hand busy with the cello.

Your vintage Moog should surely be worth much more than USD 500? Anyway, if you are happy with it, I would advice you to keep it. The MFB synths looks fun, but you will never know how it will turn out.

Just to do ordinary midi mapping, you don't need an automapping profile. Just hook it up and get going.

Parallells should be ok, because (AFAIK?) it uses the CPUs own virtualization support. If I got it right, the CPU basically pretends to be two (or more) CPUs, allowing you to run multiple OSes at the same time. Probably more overhead than bootcamp.

Many effects and softsynths sound better at higer sampling frequencies. A quite comming technique is oversampling, which means that the synth operate internally at eg 96kHz even though your project is still 44.1 kHz. For instruments/fx that doesn't support oversampling (Operator?) then there might b...

Just enable the individual outs from Lives prefs ("1" and "2", not just "1&2") and then set the output from a track to either 1 or 2. Don't know the MBOX so you might have to get some sort of splitter cable (stereo-> 2 mono plugs) if it lacks individual outs.

16 samples I belive. But I had good instant gratification by loading just one longer sample and telling the app to slice it randomly into 16 parts.

Cool app and great fun. Made a great glitchy melody loop almost by accident in just a couple of minutes.

Somewhat similar to Metasynth, although without the FFT/resynthesis part.

You can also slice the sample inside Live. Either place i in arrange view, unfold the track so you see the audio vaweform, mark with the mouse and then do Split. Or just copy the sample a couple of times i Session and adjust the start and end points. Either way, then just drop the slices into Impuls...
