Re: coming out of the closet....

Usually when somebody is mad about how iTunes manages their library it's because they don't understand it or are trying to over think and over control what is going on with their files. Once they see how it works they generally agree it's the best way to do things. Things like sample libraries just...

Re: How do you make your kicks?

Heh, If something is taken and used well, I think that's a good thing. Outcome is all that matters. Although if the outcome is weak uncreative guff, it's not good in that case. :) nothing against using pre-existing stuff. but this topic is about how to "make your kicks". not about how to "take some...

Re: Something strange is happening...

as if any other work is not like that, 3phase. you at least could work with music AT WORK. i have to find some spare time to do it. which is quite hard if you sleep 4-maybe6hours each night because of the actual work.

Re: Something strange is happening...

What exactly makes your time so special? he's 3phase. no time to betatest, but time to create it's own blog-style rant in the forum :) in other news, new beta horray :) btw, 3phase. 8.2 is the first one that randomly crashes on me. so the prophecy seems to be true: once finally it start to behave r...

Re: Faderfox 4midiloop controller

i like the cramped thing (but check the videos, it's actually really big, the pics might make it look worse than it is). and the price is understandable for handmade stuff. but yeah, still expensive. then again, faderfox quality is always great. i'd love to see more from them. http://www.youtube.com...

Re: new laptop is lagging behind 4-year old desktop....why?

I checked the power settings. The CPU max is set to stay at 100% when on battery power. your i7 is a dualcore, so it's essentially an i5 with a slightly higher clock (5%). it's clocked around the same as your desktop, too. => it's about half as fast (yeah, core iX are faster per clock than core2, b...

Re: What does Warping with Grey NOT YELLOW makers do?

it sounds like willyum that you and dave are saying the opposite thing, but in any case I understand what both of you is saying and understand warp markers better. thank you this was an important lesson. no we don't oppose each other. i forgot about the transient-feature when warping. you can move ...

Re: Light Peak

lightpeak will most likely get an usb like base device identification protocol. after that, yes, one can use what ever one want to communicate (this is true for anything, btw: there are special usb hdds that have own drivers. if you have the special driver, they send around 50-60mb/s. if they use th...

Re: How do you make your kicks?

I've made kicks in numerous ways, but recently I've been playing around with using Operator to provide a nice impulse/attack noise and then Corpus to provide the ringing body tones. The advantage here lies mainly in being able to adjust the harmonic content, which is quite hard to synthesize otherw...

Re: macbook pro: intel core duo or i5/i7?

or wait until the i7 becomes quadcore which will make a major difference. There are no dates on this, but it will surely happen sooner rather than later. Isn't the i7 already a quad core? not in the macbooks. there are some mobile systems with i7 quadcores, but most are dualcores. only on the deskt...
