Re: Bitwig vs Ableton - PDC Test (Video)

possibly dumb question... but just curious on opinions. suppose that the abes came out and said 'hey, just kidding, we fixed it and we put the fix into 9.2'. of course you would upgrade - but also, all your old sets could possibly be out of time, if you had adjusted for the errors - they'd now be wr...

Re: A way to side-chain the lower end of a sound?

what you're describing is a dynamic EQ, btw. never knew autofilter had a sidechain, will have to play with it. i think that's a little bit different effect, since the sidechain affects the filter frequency? when really you want it to affect volume. i don't know of any free dynamic EQs, but melda mdy...

Re: All Live packs get updated this week??? (ansered by Abes)

otoh, if you hadn't been checking, you wouldn't even have noticed. since you had, you almost re-downloaded 55 gigs of content to get some japanese language lessons. it's probably a good thing that's not automatic, or even semi-automatic, until pack updates are incremental...

Re: Making a guitar rack with Live

there are some m4l devices which purport to support 'presets' for racks. i haven't gotten to actually try any of them out yet though.

Re: if you have kontakt would it make sense to get sampler?

er... it depends. sampler is _great_ as a quick access sampler - you can even set up your defaults so that when you drag, say, a single drum hit onto a drum rack, it populates it with a sampler for that sample instead of a simpler (which is a lot more capable). now, long samples you'd usually work w...

Re: Does nobody understand PDC on here?

afaik, there is no way to shift midi clock timing. a lot of plugins that let you do these things, you can shift the lfo curve in the plugin itself though.

Re: Session Drums (Multimic, Studio, Club) Differences?

studio/club and multimic are fundamentally different things. studio and club together were the 'stereo' kits from the original session drums. basically, you get each articulation (say, 'snare hit', 'snare rim', and 'sidestick') as a single (stereo?) channel. they are usually a bit processed but not ...

Re: Should I uninstall 32-bit and install 64, just for Melodyne?

in windows, you can disable DEP for some 32 bit applications. you can't for 64 bit applications, but in my case, the melodyne activation assistant (which is a 32 bit application) would hang if i didn't disable DEP for it. (i also had this issue with Reaktor, btw). i don't know if there is an equival...

Re: Should I uninstall 32-bit and install 64, just for Melodyne?

i had a bunch of issues getting melodyne authorized on my 64 bit (windows) machine, which had nothing to do with the 'bitness'. but eventually it worked (was related to DEP), and i can use it either 32 or 64 bit, no problem. whatever your problem is, i doubt it's related to 32/64 bits....

Re: Session Drums - Limitations?

you don't have to make a drum rack, you just need a midi rack which does the remapping. then you drop that in front of the normal session drums presets.

Re: Will Lives PDC bug Cause MIDI automation to go out of time?

generally, automating a synth is OK.

it's mostly automation of effects later in the chain, and/or effects that use midi sync.

Re: Uncertainty Principle of Ableton and MicroKorg

they're both trying to open the same midi port; midi ports are exclusive so they can't both own the port.

you can use something like loopbe or midiyoke though, i think, to accomplish this.

Re: Live 9 will not allow me to drag mp3 to audio track

this is well known.... are you running on windows? are you running live as administrator? then the window explorer can't drag to ableton because of security settings. if that is the issue, you'll need an external explorer you can also run as admin... i'm using explorer++. if that doesn't apply to yo...
