Re: Sugar Bytes Helloween (sic) sale: 50% off all products

Anyone looking for a nice live performance multi-effects system should check out Turnado. It's fun! And it seems practically designed for an APC40. Also, Cyclop is a solid and unique synthesizer (oriented around bass but flexible for a lot of tasks). Most of their stuff is pretty good but I use thos...

Help test a new step sequencer for the Launchpad?

Anyone have a Novation Launchpad and want to help me test a Max for Live project I've been working on for a long time? It's a step sequencer with some experimental features. Basically, it's got 4 independent tracks, each with 8 patterns of up to 64-steps. The steps can be one of 5 values, represente...

Re: audio sample organizer

Thanks for the info oblique strategies, that's really helpful. Looks like most options on the market are waaaay overkill for what I want. Might be time to roll up my sleeves and build my own custom solution (I write software for my day job).

Re: audio sample organizer

@seventhirtyfour - I guess it's hard to explain, but I want to be able to do a "multi-dimensional" search based on various criteria depending on my needs of the moment. You can do stuff like this in Omnisphere if you have ever used that. I think I heard Native Instruments has similar features (maybe...

audio sample organizer

I've been thinking a lot about what features I really could use in Ableton 9 (besides 64-bit, but I won't beat that dead horse), and one feature idea has continually resurfaced as I'm actually making music and not just day-dreaming about some random thing I think I need: I need help organizing my au...

Re: 64 bit Native Support - Ableton Unable To?

Trying to look to the bright side, if ANY level of 64 bit compatibility gets finally released, just by allowing to increase the RAM over the actual 3+ Gb limit, would suffice to run Live much better than it is now. I completely agree. I have been waiting years to take advantage of more than 3-4 Gb ...

Re: MIDI sidechain input selector in the plugin device

Just didn't sound like you'd thought of it as you were talking about iac and m4l. Actually, yeah, I was being kind of stupid with my setup. During this conversation I realized there's no need for iac/m4l. You just need to create an extra MIDI track for *every plugin* you want to route too. When you...

Re: MIDI sidechain input selector in the plugin device

Sure, I do that too. But it could be a lot easier and avoid extra track clutter, hence the feature request. Also, as I mentioned in the OP, sometimes I would like to route the same MIDI to multiple plugins. Since any given track can only send it's MIDI to one other track/device, I don't think this i...

Re: MIDI sidechain input selector in the plugin device

No, because in many cases I am using an audio plugin on an audio track that has MIDI sidechaining features. In fact, all of the plugins I mentioned (FabFilter Pro-G, Sonic Charge Bitspeek, and iZotope Stutter Edit) work this way.

MIDI sidechain input selector in the plugin device

A number of plugins these days have very useful MIDI sidechain features. For example: FabFilter Pro-G (open/close the gate via MIDI), Sonic Charge Bitspeek (control the pitch of the resynthesis) and iZotope Stutter Edit (trigger different FX patterns). You can use MIDI sidechain with these plugins b...

Re: THE NEW BIG USER REQUESTS TOPIC FOR LIVE9!!!!

There's a couple things I want that I didn't see anyone else request yet: 1. GATE: The option to use independent thresholds for opening and closing the gate (AKA "hysteresis" - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noise_gate). This can be used to manage some "choppiness" when gating a track, especially ...

Re: View all automations in one request

Yeah! We should be able to select different colors for different parameters and then show multiple parameters in a single automation lane. I'm not sure I'd necessarily want to see *all* of them, it might get too chaotic. But if we could add multiple parameters to a single lane, you could add all of ...

Re: "Collect All and Save" doesn't collect files my device needs

However, if you are using non-Max filetypes (e.g. xml for pattrstorage), they will still not be included. But that's just it. My problem is I am using non-Max filetypes (xml, plaintext files, and custom non-javascript script files), and they are not being included. So I still think the two options ...

"Collect All and Save" doesn't collect files my device needs

I often use additional files along with my Max for Live devices, which are loaded by objects inside the patcher. For example, subpatchers, text files and scripts. Of course, Collect All and Save isn't aware of these dependencies, so it misses these files and I have to go manually copy everything ove...

hysteresis for gate

The gate effect device would be much more powerful if a hysteresis option were added. That is, an independent threshold for closing the gate. It's the difference between "Darn it, I need to go find a decent gate plugin" and "Cool! Ableton's gate does everything I need".
