Re: Prevent all notes off when the transport is stopped?

Thanks for the input everyone. It was easier to get a handle on the MIDI approach first (and MIDI works outside of Live which is useful), so that's why I was using MIDI. But yeah, using the API looks promising and it avoids the issues I am having. From what I can tell, if you want to use the API the...

Re: Prevent all notes off when the transport is stopped?

I also noticed Live knows where I've sent note ons without a note off (sustained notes), and will send those note offs when I stop the transport. It makes sense as a way to prevent stuck notes, but it's not what I want to happen here. I decided the easiest thing to do is to watch for the CC #123 (al...

Prevent all notes off when the transport is stopped?

I've been working on some custom devices for the Launchpad (I'll share them soon), and I ran into a problem. The Launchpad uses MIDI note on and note off messages to control the lights on the buttons. I want my device to be in full control of this. As long as Live is playing, everything is fine. The...

sound dropouts after opening a few sets, maybe Duet-specific

When I open a few sets (sometimes just 2 but usually after 5-6) the sound starts breaking up and getting "crackly" or has skips/dropouts. This only seems to happen when I am using my Apogee Duet as the audio output. Once this happens, I can only fix it by restarting Live or by changing the audio buf...

One more beta this Friday?

I'm giving a presentation on some Max stuff this Friday evening at 7:00 pm PST (GMT-8) and I would love to demo some Max for Live devices. But the demo expires on Friday so I have the feeling I'm going to get burned by the expiration. I'll definitely be prepared to do the whole presentation in Max 5...

[c74] problems with midiformat/midiout not sending MIDI

I was playing around with a basic chord generator, and I seem to have encountered a bug with the midi* objects. Here's a set that demonstrates the issue: http://compusition.com/mfl/add_minor_third_test.zip And here's the device in question (also included in the set): ----------begin_max5_patcher----...

Re: [ddg] Crash of the MAX window enabling Java debug options

the best option would be able to either have separate settings for each environment, or to be able to override options in Live. ... That way, we could choose a different port in Live and the issue would go away. Although this seems ideal, having separate settings for Max and for Live introduces som...

Re: [frs] this_device & cut/paste clips

I am still experiencing this crash in 8.1b6.

It's frustrating because I use cut/copy/paste often, and this_device is a very useful aspect of Live API.

incorrect MIDI note format in GetSelectedNotes example

The GetSelectedNotes example (found in M4L.api.ListOfAbstractions.maxpat) has incorrect info. It says the MIDI note format is: note <pitch> <starttime> <duration> <velocity> <isenabled> I believe the last argument is actually <isdeactivated>. I see 0 when notes are enabled and 1 when they are deacti...

[frs] this_device & cut/paste clips

I found a reproducible crash. I narrowed down the problem to this set: http://compusition.com/mfl/cut-n-paste-clip-crash-project.zip I can crash Live by doing this: - Open the attached set - Select the first clip in the first track (the only clip in this set) - Cut the clip (Command+X) - Paste the c...

Re: APC40 "stop all clips" button - should it light up?

Ok, cool. I also took another look at the APC40 video and it scrolls across all the LEDs and lights them up, except for that one. So I guess it just doesn't light up. Kinda weird, but not a problem. So I was just being paranoid (well maybe not, I can't even tell you how many electronics I bought ove...

APC40 "stop all clips" button - should it light up?

Possibly dumb question. I just got an APC40 from guitar center. I think they gave me a repackaged or floor model because it had clearly already been opened. That's fine, but it made me paranoid to triple-check everything is working perfectly so I can return it if not. It seems fine so far, but I not...
