Beat repeat... once I figured out it is not useless if you automate it.

Re: Source of instruments for Sampler...

When you expand your Instrument Racks in the live devices menu, there should be stuff pre-sorted for you in the categories you have mentioned.

Re: Virus Control midi map

Did you try to enable 'configure' on the track view in ableton, then right click on the knob or dropdown in the VC and select "Add xxx to automation", then twist the knob or change the dropdown? It should add a virtual controller to the track, and you should be able to further midi assign that to ot...

Re: Komplete 5 399 .. is it worth it?

I wanted to add my name to the list of people who sprung for this.

I really wanted Massive, but for 200 bucks more I can Reaktor, Absynth, FM8, Guitar Rig and 6 other instruments? Woah wtf, sign me up...

Re: I am a Mac, sell me a PC

I'll go for Snow Leopard over Windows 7 almost solely for the lack of headache I'll inevitably have. On my last PC I formatted a raid config when I was reinstalling the os and couldn't get the raid config or windows install to recognize the harddrives. Linux however saw them no problem. It was in th...

Re: Ableton & Mastering phase

I tend to (try to) master stuff myself, but I've heard that people typically just send audio files as high quality as they can with about 2-3 db of headroom available. You don't want to leave too much as it can increase the noise floor.

+1 for PITCH UP

I have no clue how this got left out, did someone at ableton decide people would only want to pitch down retrigs?

Re: sooo i feel stupid asking

You best bet is probably to rip your cd's to your computer as wav/aif/mp3 and then throw them in an ableton session.

Re: Time stretch in Sampler

+1

I find sampler more and more powerful every day, especially when used in conjunction with drum racks... not having time stretch kinda feels like i'm missing the last crucial ingredient

Re: How to make the sound stutter ?

Anyone mention that if you drop the audio (it has to be long enough) in arrange, you can simply drag the bpm up and down then change the length of the clip?

And of course impulse has time.

Re: jomox vs elektron?

I made an album in Feb that was all MD+Virus, no samples or anything else. Quite an enjoyable experience. I had no problems integrating the MD into my setup with Ableton, or getting things to sit in the mix. Everything was done in 32 bit and came out squeaky clean. I kinda found out what kinda drums...

Nice one!

FM has always been a mystery to me. I've gotten decent results by accident mixing squares together, perhaps I should spring for this and figure out what the heck I'm doing heh

Re: Suite 8 vs Komplete (I need help deciding)

Might also want to consider how beefy your computer is. I find the ableton stuff very CPU friendly vs I notice the NI stuff takes up a lot of RAM and a few of them like Massive really drain my CPU.
