Re: A firewire soundcard for live use with many in/outputs ?

I second the MOTU Ultralite. Great interface, very flexible with multiple ins/outs, compact form factor is nice for portability, solid construction. I have heard of people having the occasional issue with them, but mine has been rock-solid for three years, both in the studio and onstage. From what ...

Re: Pitch getting "stuck" after clip automation..?

Yep, make sure your pitch 0 message is actually being sent and the clip's playback isn't ending prematurely. This can happen if your message is after the clip stop position, or if you stop clip playback early via triggering another clip or messing with the transport. This happens to me a lot when us...

Re: Push means APC40 is redundant right?

I feel bad for Keith McMillen. The QuNeo now looks like a very cheap version of the Push. Speaking as an unabashed QuNeo fan, I think they're different focuses. I'd use a QuNeo when I want several different layers of expressive control (x/y in addition to pressure on drums, for example), which is m...

Re: Push means APC40 is redundant right?

I sure hope so because then I can buy a cheap APC when everyone starts unloading them to buy a Push.

Re: Screenshots of Live 9

Its something Stuart Fisher (ST8) and I have been working on last year. But its been on hold for several reasons. Lemur became available on iPad, so that caused some distractions. And Stu is currently moving. We also have several other controller designs in the works. I don't want to hijack the thr...

Re: midi over gone??

Try disabling it (choose "None" in the control surface type chooser in MIDI preferences) and see if your problem goes away. This isn't a solution as I know you'll want to use your APC, but it'll help isolate the problem. Alternately: is anything MIDI mapped to the overdub switch? Hit Ctrl/...

Re: Ableton Unauthorized/Deactivated itself

You can request new authorizations through Ableton by sending an email I think to unlock@ableton.com (check me on that) and explaining that you've done some OS reinstalls, but they probably won't be answering on a weekend. Beyond that, I'm not sure how to help - it sounds like it's lost your authori...

Re: APC40 and MPD26 clashing...

Live doesn't differentiate which device a given MIDI message comes from for the purposes of mapping. Is there a chance that the MPD and APC are sending the same MIDI messages? Like the same CC number? You can check this by going into MIDI mapping mode and trying to manually map the conflicting knobs...

Re: problem exporting tracks! need help DESPERATELY

Does this happen when you convert any .wav file? How about any .wav file of the same bit depth/sample resolution as your Live exports?

Re: Audio Inteface

I'm presuming you already have a computer, Ableton Live, and a guitar/bass. And cords. You're pretty much set! You are correct that clean electric guitar generally sounds pretty thin. A big part of how an electric guitar sounds is how its amp and cabinet sound, so you'll need those in your chain som...

Set the "interval" to something other than 1 bar is my guess, but I always forget what each control does and have to play with them to remember.

Re: Arm/Disarm automation possible??

The record arm buttons aren't automatable by default, but you could set up a MIDI loopback device and use the quick mappings to map it to those buttons, then send MIDI signals out the loopback output from a track in Arrange view. Hacky, but could work.

This was the first thing I thought of when I read your question. Can you perhaps enable the RAM switch on the Sample box in Clip View for all of those clips and see if that resolves it?

Re: midi over gone??

I don't believe I've ever run into this.

Do you have some kind of control surface script loaded that might be affect the overdub switch?
