I am talking specifically about markers, by the way. Placing multiple markers in the timeline seem to be a pretty essential part of soundtrack creation, something for Live 7 perhaps, but if anyone has a workaround please let me know.

I used to play keyboards (was forced to do the whole piano thing when I was a kid and got up to grade 6 in practical and theory). I say used to because I have noticed that after five years of computer fiddling, my keyboard skills have gone downhill big time.... but I consider a laptop is a musical i...

Is anyone using Live 6 for writing music for video?

Just wondering as I have my first commission for a corporate video. Recently, I have been "practicing" using Nuendo, after hearing about the commission I fired up Live and had a go at putting some music to visuals. Live does not seem as intuitive as Nuendo. In fact it seems quite clumsy (I have been...

It must have been thirty years ago.... I had some nasty cheapo drum machine that I forget the name of running for the beats (clicks) was playing a Roland SH09 with one hand and was hitting the strings of my mothers upright piano with a drumstick held in the other hand. I remember that I eventually c...

The best thing about doing a course is the contacts you make (I did a film production course twenty years ago, the course itself was useless but the contacts I made allowed me to build a career (of sorts)) . Find out if the course you are interested in doing has good links into the real world.

I have to say that I watched the film in Italian and I struggle with that language daily, but I thought the script (the adaptation) was very weak. I like Daniel Craig and I like the idea that Bond will return to the 60"s grit of the Sean Connery movies.... lets hope that they make a better job of th...

the educational version of Logic Pro 7 is fully upgradeable. i'd consider reason. -wttg- Not true about the academic version. It may be that at a future time they retract this, but on Apple's webstore, the clearly indicate that it is not eligible for future upgrades (ie, can't upgrade to 8). I am s...

Cheers. I was hoping for a quicker way as I have many sets to transfer in a limited time... but looks like this is the quickest method anyway.

Transferring Live 6 Sets to Live 5

Stupid question I know, and I think I already know the answer.... will a Set built in Live 6 open in Live 5 (if I strip out all of the FX specific to 6)? I have not got Live 5 lying around to try it out.

For studio work the tower deffo, its expandability will mean that you will be able to stay with the base machine for quite a few years - so it is a good financial investment. I am planning to get a tower and a Macbook for portability/live work. A macbook with an external drive is a good option for g...

I think Reason is great for coming up with ideas on a laptop with a midi keyboard attached - but the sequencer truly does suck. Not sure about the quality of the sounds even through a decent soundcard but recently I fed some combinator patches through some cheapo outboard and the difference in 'qual...

A while ago one of my cats disappeared, he was a real pet and didn't even like to leave the house that much - we went frantic and searched all over for him, posted flyers, asked all over the place. After a few weeks we thought we had seen the last of him. He turned up more than a year later as if no...

Daisy chaining FW devices for audio is a big no-no. In theory I suppose it would work but these things tend go wrong at the worst of times. In front of lots of people Is that the theory? Well strangely enough, I only seem to be able to get my Motu 828 MKII and FW HD drive to work without audio glit...
