I have an Asus P4 3.2. It"s noisy and its heavy but so far it has been 100 per cent reliable (touch wood). Dragged it all over Europe, dropped it twice, and it"s as solid as a rock. Usually I use it with an MBox, but have had no probs when working with my 828 Mk 2 on firewire.

Help needed with Live and audience interactivity

An artist friend of mine has asked me to produce an interactive music set for an installation. The idea is that the audience (one person at a time) would enter a small room, and the movements of that person would effect the audio that was playing. I have written the music, created a huge live set an...

According to this: http://www.kvraudio.com. NI are releasing Absynth as an open source application. Bad news for anyone who has bought Absynth in the last few months (like me), good news for everyone else. LED I didn't see any info on this anywhere... You are right they have moved it... try this ht...

OT> Motherboard and GPU combination

I am building a dual core PC with a AMD 4200+ CPU. I will be using the PC solely as a Non Linear Edit suite running Avid Liquid 7 (although I will probably be tempted to run Live 5 and Nuendo on it to see how it compares to my 3.2 P4 DAW). I have just ordered an ASUS A8N SLI Premium motherboard and ...

avian flu, H5N1 virus has been around along time..Not a new virus. I would be more concerned of the normal flu or just driving in a car. Doesn"t the fact that H5N1 has been around for a long time make it even more scary????? I live in Italy and since the virus made it into Sicily there is a bit of ...

things still go wrong with a mac, I spend plenty of time troubleshooting them. Also note that there is a comparable amount of literature on optimising OSX for audio as XP. feel free to buy one, it's not like I'm gonna be fixing it. But the idea that you will not need to optimize or never have drive...

After many years of using PC"s I am thinking of switching to a Mac for once and for all. WHY? I have built two PC"s for audio use only, configured the things to run as smoothly as poss, read shitloads stuff on how to configure XP, performed test after test after test to try and squeeze the last bit ...

Forget books.... try and link up with some other musicians, offer then a free recording facility or something to get then interested. Mix the tracks that you record, do fifty different mixes. Learn from them.. It"s all trial and error in my view. Music cannot be learnt from a book... you have to do ...
