Bouncing down and then mastering in a new Live project?

hey guys, to avoid drop outs, I've been producing and mixing my tracks in one Live project (with only a subtle limiter on the master, to prevent any clips), bouncing down, and then performing the mastering in a separate project (with some heftier plug-ins on the master bus). Is this an ok idea? It s...

how to get ableton 8 to display time information in clips?

hey all,
Im sure Live 7 used to display beats/bars at the top of a clip, and mins/secs at the bottom. But in Live 8 I can only see beats/bars at the top. How can I get clips to display minutes and seconds also, like they used to?

cheers

Remote 25 SL: should i map VST or AU versions of plug-ins?

hello all, I want to properly map out to my Remote 25 SL, the plug-ins that I use a lot. I use Ableton for production and performance, but am using Logic and Pro Tools for mixing audio at uni (and I have all three at home). Ultimately, I only want to map out each essential plug-in once. So, for maxi...

Simple, but stable reverse-effect VST/plug-in?

hello all, Im after a simple, but stable reverse-effect VST/plug-in for using in live performances, and maybe for production work. Something similar to the reverse lever on CDJs would do the job. I know there is the Reversinator, but that runs on PowerPc Macs only. Im on a (intel duo) Macbook, with ...

no i don't. just a rumour. One of my lecturer's mentioned it, and he reckons his source tends to be right. But we can definitely dream, hey!

Re: Macbook vs Macbook Pro - how different would they feel?

Thanks guys. Food for thought indeed. I head a little rumour that 8-core iMacs aren't too far off either (and Im not in any position to buy just yet). So maybe i'll see how they compare to the MBP as well. It's all very interesting. In the meantime I'll keeping squeezing all I can out of my MB : ) c...

Macbook vs Macbook Pro - how different would they feel?

hello all, my current lappy is a 2.1Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook, with 4gb RAM running OS X 10.5.8 I've currently got my live performance set-up working quite well, but I know Im just about at the limit of my computer's CPU power before I get drop-outs (or increase the buffer/latency - which I reall...

sub-bass instrument?

hey all, does anyone know and instrument dedicated to sub-bass sounds? Or alternatively, something similar to Logic's Subbass inssert plug-in? From memory, it will take the incoming audio (VST or waveform, i think) and then generate sub-bass frequencies based on the fundamentals in the original sign...

side-scrolling mouse for use in studio and live?

howdy all, Im on a Mac, so have been considering one of Apple's side-scrolling mice, but i was wondering what else is out there, that people recommend for use in the studio, and perhaps for live gigs? And in regards to wireless mice, does bluetooth interfere with audio at all, or put significant str...

Re: Audio drop-out when changing master tempo during Live sets

update (sorry for the delay, i've been really busy with school): I found a likely culprit. I was using a Sugar Bytes Effectrix effect VST on one of my sends <CPU hog it seems. Have since removed it, and have dropped my sample buffer right down (without any drop outs when changing the master tempo). ...

Re: Audio drop-out when changing master tempo during Live sets

cheers 8O, I've gone through and deleted all the unused & consolidated files (backed up first, of course). That seems to have made a little difference (testing on my fragmented drive at the moment). Will have to see how defragged drive goes also : ) will keep you posted Ps thanks for the link to the...

Re: Audio drop-out when changing master tempo during Live sets

Also, how are you changing BPM: directly controlling the global tempo field or via scene launch naming? Im controlling it with a VCM 600, so it's mapped to the global tempo field. And to help establish whether it's a Live bug, can you find the exact tipping point for when you get drop-outs: is it p...
