Re: Live gigs: worth having a second drive (SSD) for audio?

edit: a bit of googling dug up the OptiBay Hard idea: http://www.mcetech.com/optibay/ what a good idea. I don't often use the drive on my Macbook, apart from as a DVD player - and that could be done externally. Plus i'd like a second burner for my Mac Pro (to make burning doubles of CDs quicker - gr...

Re: Live gigs: worth having a second drive (SSD) for audio?

I use exactly the setup you describe for live performance. I have a macbook pro with two internal drives, one regular HD and one SSD, and I put all my Live sets and all their samples on the SSD. It gives you very smooth I/O for audio with a lot of bandwidth. It's especially nice if you use a lot of...

Live gigs: worth having a second drive (SSD) for audio?

Full title: Live gigs: worth having a second drive (SSD) for streaming audio clips? Hi all, I know that when you're doing recording to an HD (esp with multi-tracking), it's recommended that you use one HD for the system, and a second HD to store/stream the recorded audio to. Now my question: is it w...

Re: Sharing a set's processing across two laptops

i mean you can sync two laptops via ethernet and split up your set however you want but wouldn't a better decision to be sell the mac pro, sell your macbook and jus got a ridiculously awesome quad core MBP? Hmmm I really like my Mac Pro. It has *so* much grunt. And I only got it in the last 6 month...

Sharing a set's processing across two laptops

Hi all, I've put together a live set I'm really happy with. I'm happy with the level of live control/improvisation it allows over my sound. However there is one major set-back: my 2008 2.1ghz MacBook can't run my set, when I'm mixing between tracks/parts. The CPU meters for each core hit 96-98%, and...

Exponential-curve patch for controlling MIDI?

hi all, as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong), this can't be done in Ableton (without Max): I want to map the resonance and freq cut-off of a HP filter to a single knob, but as the frequency rises, the resonance (Q) rises exponentially (rather than linearly). I want to be able to filter sweep l...

Re: Robert Henke's Grain Freeze - no audio??

if you get around to writing a version 3, i'd love a wet/dry pot, to create non-linear transitions from the freeze to the original source.

Very cool though.

Only downloaded the M4L demo a few days back, so a complete Max novice here. But loving the possibilities!

Re: Robert Henke's Grain Freeze - no audio??

Original poster here.

The latest version (version 2 from Monolake.de site, last updated April 13th) works for me! : )

Wow. Thanks Robert. Such a wicked effect.

Interesting to see how much extra CPU multiple voices chews up vs single voice - but guess that's to be expected! ; )

very cool.

33tetragammon wrote:yes, same here. version 1.0 works, version 2.0 does nothing when the "freeze" button is pressed.
Version 1 works for you? I can't get either to make any sound at all. Bummer.

Robert Henke's Grain Freeze - no audio??

hi all, so I came across Grain Freeze 1.0 on maxforlive.com, but the comments mentioned said that version didn't work, and that the version (2.0) on the monolake website was the one that worked. Here's the one on maxforlive.com : http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=240 and here's the one...

Re: Which Ableton Instrument is the least CPU-intensive?

picked up a Lexicon MX400 reverb unit. Very nice.

Yet to use it live, but it's been good fun in the studio : )

also, im not on an i7. On an old 2.1Ghz white Macbook (2009/08 model, i think...)

cheers
