Re: clean sound

Any chance you can upload your project so we can have a look/listen at what's going on? Because the possible reasons for an clouded, unclear mix are countless. And without access to you project it would be guessing and throwing random suggestions at you.

Re: VST3

It's not about getting a pumping effect. The side-chain example I gave was just 1 practical example (out of many) of why one would use the side-chain input. The problem is that I want to be able to use the 3rd party plugins side-chain inputs without going through all the steps I described.

Re: Dedicated mixer

The one suggestion from the option.txt method is not a viable solution alas; - Ableton does not recommend using it due to instability - The names of the plugins are not displayed/resized when the mixer columns width is changed (forcing you to resize the channel width each time) - Plugins can not be ...

Re: Dedicated mixer

I think I get what he is trying to say. It is very very handy for mixing if you can see the FX inserts on the mixer channels themselves. Like Pro Tools and Logic do. In Ableton you have to click on the channel, get into the device view and see what's in there (often scroll from left to right to). Th...

Re: VST3

If they are not going to support VST3 then at least let them come up with a better way to utilise the sidechain inputs of 3rd party plugins. For instance; if I want to use Fabfilter Pro-C on a pad and have Pro-C be side-chained by the kick drum then I would have to, either duplicate the kick drum tr...

Re: Record 16bit, Export 16bit - needs dithering??

Thanks, but I'm not worried about the small amount of noise dithering introduces; I was simply looking for the answer why. The answer is, like many DAWs, Live automatically converts everything to 32bit internally. Therefore, any rendered bit depth less than 32 gets dithered. I am not sure that is t...

Alright then, no worries. No one is forcing Loopback on you. Keep using Soundflower then for those rare times you use a program such as this. It's still available here: https://github.com/mattingalls/Soundflower

Machinesworking wrote:Sure, why mention updates as being free then? What company makes you pay for updates?
Waves for one. And I was not implying that the price for the Loopback app is high. On the contrary.

I think we can agree on the fact that Updates are a bit different from Upgrades. ;)

Re: fuller sounding synths

Using unison voices is one sure fire way to make a synth sound more full. Some synths (like U-he Zebra or Synapse Audio Dune2 or Sylenth also I believe) have the capability of 'stacked oscillators' which lets you have multiple oscillators within one oscillator and offset their tuning and panning rel...

Re: Plugins and iLok

I have read tons of horror stories on iLok. I personally never had any problems with it. The only two negatives in my opinion is the mandatory $25,- fee whenever you want to transfer a license to some one else and the fact that expired demo licenses stay on your iLok for ever (my OCD not likey that)

Re: Rogue Amoeba Loopback (OS X only)...

Can't comment on Fission as I only use Loopback and AdioHijack. Rogue Amoeba are a good dev company. AudioHijack as well as Loopback are deceptively easy to use. I say deceptive because the fact that they are so easy to use and simply laid out (good interface design) does not diminish their capabili...

Re: Rogue Amoeba Loopback (OS X only)...

I purchased it last week. It's great. I only got it for the routing of audio from Logic to Live etc. For all the other stuff I use their other program Audiohijack.

Both great programs. Stable too.
