Re: Resonators - track note by keyboard

Short answer, it can. Long answer, if you tweak resonator 1 note control you'll see it has a range from C-1 to C5 centred round C2. Activate the MIDI mapping for the resonator and press and hold C2, then, while still holding it, press C-1 and C5 (you'll probably need to use the octave up and down bu...

Re: Poll : rate Live 9 . Vote now!

Well OK since I started the M4L thing I guess I should chip in my bit. I hardly ever program with M4l. I got it assuming I would, but somehow I never have the time. I use M4L all the time though. I find that every time I want to do something in Live that it doesn't have the capability for, someone h...

Re: Poll : rate Live 9 . Vote now!

I think the big thing, which people aren't mentioning, is M4L integration as part of suite. This is at a guesstimate an extra £150 or so worth of software chucked in. I know it's a bit of a bitch for those of us who already have M4L but for anyone else it's a bargain and I still hold out hope for a ...

Re: How to sustain a sample

If you loop a middle section it will sometimes turn out OK. You should make sure the loop points are at zero crossings at the same point in the wave's cycle and at pretty much the same amplitude or it will pop or click each loop. There is a snap function in the sampler which can help with this. Putt...

Re: Midi Mapping: Is it possible to...?

Funken on these forums has a lot of stuff on his site about user remote scripts including a full guide and a couple of examples you can copy and paste (tweak for your MIDI controller numbers!). They're basically just a txt file telling Ableton to use the MIDI controller numbers of your keyboard rota...

Re: What is your main 'view' ?

Arrange for arranging, session for performing. What I like about arrange is that it is fast. Logic or Sonar have more MIDI capabilities but I think Ableton's workflow is faster than either (haven't really used Cubase so can't comment). I appreciate YMMV on this but if I'm writing a tune it's really ...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

There's also been M4L. Even if you don't want to build stuff there's a bunch of free synths, the LFO plugin everyone seems to want, the entire pluggo collection, and loads of user created free stuff like step sequencers and event list editors. Not to mention the control surface madness it makes poss...

Re: Why did my 'Yellow' warp markers dissappear?

If, instead of adding in the audio file, you find the original Ableton set where you did the warping in the broswer, you can click on the little arrow next to the .als file (not in the samples folder) and it will show you the tracks which you can drag in to the new set. The clips will then be in you...

Re: Playing guitar through Ableton

Not tried with guitar but I used to run a vocal stream with a bunch of plugs (including vocoding/autotune) through an old 1.6 GHz Toshiba single core Centrino running winXP. It was fine for the most part although on some sessions I had to freeze some soft synths to free up CPU. So I reckon your Macb...

Re: Can I switch samples on the fly in a Sampler instrument?

Pres on "sel" at the top, to the right of "key" and "vel". You will see a zone selector, like key zones, but MIDI mappable to whatever control you like. You can set up your zones and map them however you want.

Re: Does the velocity editor work in a drum rack?

You need to adjust velocity sensitivity in the simplers in the drum rack. By default they are on 0.

You can adjust one then map value to siblings if you want them all to be equally velocity sensitive.

Re: Why does one clip start from the loop braces and one doesnt?

On the second clip you moved the loop brace but not the start point. The start point is the arrow on the left above the first warp marker.
