Re: Moving ableton files from Mac to PC

Should do unless you have third party plugins that are only AU. Also worth movng your user library to the cloud based solution so all your presets etc just turn up in the new user library on the PC.

Re: Sample Rate can't change

I concur 48K shouldn't make any real odds unless you are timestretching or something. Having said that we had an issue a while ago with sample rate on Scarletts on Windows machines - turned out you needed to go into the windows audio, reset from there, then it would reset everyting else, rather than...

Re: Resonators - track note by keyboard

Does hitting record not do it? Making sure you are also recording automation (because that is effectively what you are doing for the resonator parametere)?

Or if you want to go straight to audio set up an audio track with the resonator track as input and use that to record to.

Stromkraft wrote:I use VSTs if available and AUs if that's the only alternative, Except for Waves which doesn't support AU in Live, I haven't really noticed any issues. I have never fully succeed saving and recalling AU presets, but VST presets usually work.
?? Waves AUs work fine for me.

Re: .wav.als?

yeah you're right. .asd not .als - I just wrote in what you'd written without thinking. .als is the Ableton project file. When you export remember to pick master as above and also you will probably want sample rate 44100 and bit depth 16. That is CD quality and will play in software media players. S...

Re: .wav.als?

OK when Ableton imports something there are two files, a .wav and a .als. The .als is a file created by Ableton that contains all the warping information that Ableton has gathered - like transient positions etc - which is what it needs if you want to pitch shift, timestretch etc. It isn't a media fi...

Re: How to make a midi note STFU at the end of the clip(simpler)

Is your simpler set to "one shot"? One shot is designed for drums so you still get the drum tails when tapping drum pads - they play the whole sample ignoring the note off. If that's the case, set it to "classic", turn looping off. PHY6 is right in that you also probably want to set release to 0 - d...

Re: MIDI Request

OK if you look in instruments you will find one called "external instrument". If you drag it into a MIDI track you can see it has a MIDI out and an audio in, which you can hook up to your Beats, letting you use it like a VST or Ableton instrument. Here's a picture of mine (the MIDI and audio ports a...

Re: MIDI Request

Ah I don't know why you have to reset the sync each time. Doesn't happen for me. Does it still do that if you use a MIDI cable from the interface? Regarding the keyboard showing up twice, I've noticed that happening as well with some Novation gear. It might be because you have it set up as a control...

Re: MIDI Request

Which MIDI port you use probably won't make a lot of difference as long as the sync or track or whatever you want is turned on for that port. Remember on USB it's the output you want. MIDI is going from your computer to the Volca so you want the USB/MIDI out not the in (Live will sometimes list both...

Re: MIDI Request

OK so 1) The volca has no USB so it will be connected via a MIDI cable, I guess via the Scarlett unless you have a USB-> MIDI cable in one of the computer's USB ports. Volcas only have MIDI in so the MIDI will be going from Live to the Volca and will be an output in Live's MIDI preferences. 2) Which...

Also if you have a repeated note or arpeggio you can select one or more notes and use cmd+D to duplicate in the piano roll. Speeds things up no end.

Re: MIDI Latency

Are you using ASIO drivers on your interface or some variety of Windows driver (WaveRT, WASAPI, etc)? When I was on PC I had unbearable latency on anything except ASIO.
