Re: Auto Tune VST for Ableton

*checks Antares site* yeah, I'm still on version 7 and never upgraded. If you're on version 8 on a PC that's undoubtedly it.

Re: Auto Tune VST for Ableton

Auto tune works fine in Ableton. Something else is wrong here. Are you trying 32 bit VSTs in a 64 bit instance of Live or something like that?

Re: NI Komplete vs Moog Sub37

+1 go hardware. Hardware is if nothing else massively entertaining to use. Twisting a physical filter knob will always feel better than clicking a mouse or even tweaking a MIDI controller. Music tech is a very expensive pastime if you aren't having fun, and you'll probably make better music if you'r...

Re: Exporting a complete song

Good catch. The Pink Buttons in that skin don't jump out at me like the orange ones do. :) I really feel this button should be in the transport bar. It's like in no man's land where it is now. One of the things that tripped me up early on. +1. It used to be in the transport bar and made a lot more ...

Re: Backing up songs-Will 3rd Party Software Programs Be Saved?

When you do a "save as" into a new location it will create a project folder with teh .als file and not a lot else in it. To consolidate all the samples, audio files etc into the folder use "collect all and save". If your track is mainly MIDI (instruments etc) then yes the save process is very quick ...

Re: Moving ableton files from Mac to PC

Should do unless you have third party plugins that are only AU. Also worth movng your user library to the cloud based solution so all your presets etc just turn up in the new user library on the PC.

Re: Sample Rate can't change

I concur 48K shouldn't make any real odds unless you are timestretching or something. Having said that we had an issue a while ago with sample rate on Scarletts on Windows machines - turned out you needed to go into the windows audio, reset from there, then it would reset everyting else, rather than...

Re: Resonators - track note by keyboard

Does hitting record not do it? Making sure you are also recording automation (because that is effectively what you are doing for the resonator parametere)?

Or if you want to go straight to audio set up an audio track with the resonator track as input and use that to record to.

Stromkraft wrote:I use VSTs if available and AUs if that's the only alternative, Except for Waves which doesn't support AU in Live, I haven't really noticed any issues. I have never fully succeed saving and recalling AU presets, but VST presets usually work.
?? Waves AUs work fine for me.

Re: .wav.als?

yeah you're right. .asd not .als - I just wrote in what you'd written without thinking. .als is the Ableton project file. When you export remember to pick master as above and also you will probably want sample rate 44100 and bit depth 16. That is CD quality and will play in software media players. S...

Re: .wav.als?

OK when Ableton imports something there are two files, a .wav and a .als. The .als is a file created by Ableton that contains all the warping information that Ableton has gathered - like transient positions etc - which is what it needs if you want to pitch shift, timestretch etc. It isn't a media fi...

Re: How to make a midi note STFU at the end of the clip(simpler)

Is your simpler set to "one shot"? One shot is designed for drums so you still get the drum tails when tapping drum pads - they play the whole sample ignoring the note off. If that's the case, set it to "classic", turn looping off. PHY6 is right in that you also probably want to set release to 0 - d...

Re: MIDI Request

OK if you look in instruments you will find one called "external instrument". If you drag it into a MIDI track you can see it has a MIDI out and an audio in, which you can hook up to your Beats, letting you use it like a VST or Ableton instrument. Here's a picture of mine (the MIDI and audio ports a...
