Re: MPK61 Tap Tempo button

The Tap Tempo on the MPK49 (I don't know about the MPK61) doesn't directly control the tempo in Live the way most people expect. If you sync Live to the tempo of the MPK it doesn't work well at all. I've tried it with my MPK49 and it's horrible then eventually just gives you an error (maybe this has...

Re: How to Make an Electro House Lead with Operator tutorial

Nice. Simple stuff but the simple things are very often quite musically useful.

Re: VST Plugins

Another good thing to know about VSTs is to install them in a folder outside of C:\Program files (x86) if you're using 64bit Vista or Windows 7.
I always use a folder in the root of C: such as C:\VstPlugins
Certain VSTs don't like being inside protected folders such as Program files.

Re: problems with projectswap from mac to pc

AS I understand, Audio Units are mac only. If he replaces the Reaktor 5 FX AU with the VST version then re-saves the project you might have a better chance of having it work. Of course you need to have Reaktor installed on your computer too.

Re: Best Virtual Analog Synth

Have you tried out DCAM Synthsquad http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=62 Some Fusor presets use a bit too much CPU power but it sounds great, especially the Electric Himalaya stuff http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=108. I was recently looking for something ROYGBIV-like and happened to ope...

Re: Drum machine with 16 beat sequencer.

Thanks. Izotope's IDrum has like 20 sounds. I posted this message on the Pro Tools forum too. Someone suggested NI Battery 3. It has 4000 sounds. And you can do that trick of writing in the midi editor once sounds are assigned to a key. Marvelous. Battery is nice but it's not quite as handy as usin...

Re: Drum machine with 16 beat sequencer.

Well, you already mentioned iDrum and it works fine in Abelton Live... but no, there's no built-in in classic drum sequencer in Ableton Live beyond using drumracks or Impulse with midi clips. That's what plug-ins are for. They add features the program doesn't already have. Have you tried the demo of...

Re: Brand new optimized PC laptop, crazy CPU !

You can also try getting dpclat.exe from http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml and seeing if you have any DPC latency problems. Remember, ASIO4ALL is pretty much a hack (or workaround). I happens to work very well for most people but it's still not anything official like if you had a real a...

Re: Lpd8 help

I just tried it with my LPD8 and you can map MIDI note OR CCs to Play, Stop, Rec etc. For some reason I have to press pretty hard to get it to work when I'm using CCs but it's simple when using notes. It's weird. Press CTRL+M and stuff will turn blue. Click on PLAY the press a pad on the LPD8 the CT...

Re: win 7 64 bit vst folder(s)

Ableton Live can't use 64 bit VSTs because it's a 32bit program (even on Win764bit). It just ignores them.

http://www.acapellas4u.co.uk is good for finding stuff like that. Lots of artists release stems of their tracks for remix contests and they end up on sites like this.

Re: Reproducing this ultra-low, deep bass sound

So you mean the really deep subby bass sound at the start. Since I was curious about this too (an just a beginner) I loaded up Analog, changed the shape to SINE and the F1/F2 all the way up to F1 (I'm not using the filter but for some reason it makes a difference). Under AMP I changed the Attack to ...
