I sympathise with you. About a year ago I tried installing Absynth 5 on a windows7 machine and had all sorts of problems with file permissions (and I was logged on as admin).

What OS are you on?

The manual isn't brilliant but it would take ages to explain all this stuff... IMO you are better off just using Absynth and learning about it that way. Call up the 'init' patch and turn off everything except for one oscilator. Now read that section in the manual and play with the oscilator so that ...

I am on windows7 and live8 is OK for me.

My main problem is windows forgetting about my audio interface and switching to the internal audio for no apparent reason

I have one of those. Probavly not for the purist but it has a pretty decent feel.

It is a good travel guitar but too long to fit in the over head bins on aircraft.
