Re: Making and editing skins for Ableton Live

Personally, have no interest in changing my live skin... but if I did, I'd use Adobe Kuler to find colours that compliment each other nicely.

@funken- I think the orange skin is pretty cool, believe it or not my bedroom used to be that colour!

Re: 7 Quick Arrangement Tips

Can't emphasise point 6 enough.

Learn to cut the shit even if it took you hours/days/weeks to make it. So hard to implement but so important.

@Funken

It looks like that is modulation rather than automation.

Re: waves mashup dj app for ipad

Read a review of this the other day and they totally slammed it. Said that is uses some kind of weird 'beat grid' that doesn't work properly and the 2 tracks they supply with it don't even stay synced up for very long. Can't find the review right now but it sounds like it's a massive waste of money.

Waves Z-Noise is great but you can get some nasty digital distortion.

Re: What could I actually do with Max?

Sweet, thanks for clearing that up. I can see it's something that won't make much sense until I actually get my hands dirty, so I'll wait until the next sale and get it fired up.

Re: What could I actually do with Max?

Thanks for the links. The impression I get from what I'm seeing (and have read) is that you create devices rather than tamper with Live itself, is that right? I know I should download the demo and just try it, but I'd rather understand what I'm letting myself in for before I start... seems like a ra...

What could I actually do with Max?

Could I say, route an Live midi channel to eg. the free-rate on the Live arpeggiator or frequency on an Auto Filter, then send that to eg. a return or audio track? I'm really clueless as to what Max can do but I'm getting frustrated by certain limitations along these lines. Is it literally like 'goi...

Re: Master level peaking issues.

Render it again but set the limiter to -0.3db

Does it still go into the red?

edit- just noticed vios already said about leaving a bit of headroom, so just ignore this.

Re: Concerning High-Quality mode

IIRC EQ8's low and high cut slopes are steeper in HQ mode.

I don't like using EQ8 in HQ mode, don't think it sounds any better and you get really weird phase problems for some reason. It's been discussed on here before but try racking 2 EQ8's in parallel, set one to HQ and one normal.

Re: Exporting Samplers?

So I take it your can't just export samplers :?

Can you export them as 'live packs' maybe? Any help doing this would be really handy, don't even know where to begin doing this.

Re: Sampler Multisamples import - Root Key and Key Range

I've been making a lot of sampler patches lately and the only way I have figured out a way of making the sampler automatically is with 'Slice to Midi' and selecting the Sampler option. However, you need to have a sample for every single note or it messes up (which means you've got to have a huge sin...

Exporting Samplers?

I've been making some pretty large samplers that have taken some serious hours to make. I want to export them in full so that I can store them separately or maybe share in the future. How would I go about doing this (ie. export with the samples, not just the sampler file- which is only a couple of K...
